For it's 20th year, I've started a project to illustrate every (major) chapter in the GeneX series! (sfw only)
It's time for GeneX: the Series season 1! I'll go over each pic chapter by chapter and briefly explain them. Or you could read the fanfic. I've got pools for the stories, and bigger stories have been collected into arcs as well, like this arc here: https://inkbunny.net/s/2861271
Ep. 0 - Copter's First Noel - Not actually part of the season, but Copter had a rough first Christmas, and nearly learned to hate the season, but Sonic & friends helped him learn a little holiday cheer in the end.
Ep. 1 - Living on the streets wasn't working out. Fortunately, Copter's plane took him back to Darkegg Fortress when it was low on fuel. Copter saved the Chao inside from a rogue Shadow Android and made the fortress his new home. (There was no Tails Chao there, but he's adorable so he can stay.)
Ep. 2 - The Festival of Romance came to Station Square. Amy struck out with Sonic again, and Rainbow's date with Illusi didn't go very well. However, Tails and Cream had a lovely time, a romance starting to blossom...
Ep. 3 - Mysteries and murders drew Shadow's attention. Former ARK scientists were being slain by the mysterious Deathbringer. I won't spoil what Shadow is digging for in the graveyard; This mystery is worth a read, even all these years later! (I particularly enjoyed re-reading it for this project.)
Ep. 4 - During a visit to Tails' Workshop, Guard the gargoyle was hacked and hijacked by Firepaw the virus! Tails had to find a way to exise the cyber feline from Guard's robotic brain before he hurt someone!
Ep. 5 - Set immediately after "Sonic GeneX - Tails the Fox." Kosmo is pursued by GUN after his defeat. Shadow takes pity on him, and helps him reach a cave to hide out for a bit. The two powerful creations bonded a bit over their similarities, and maybe Kosmo started to turn over a new leaf...a little.
Ep. 6 - Spiny the porcupine attempts a bank robbery to prove he's a badass villain. However, the Covenant of Despair also planned a robbery at that same bank! New recruit Conan the raccoon engages in a Chaos Spear battle against the porcupine...
Ep. 7 - Long in the past, Tikal's grandmother taught her many things, including all the strange beings that inhabited the world. After her grandmother's passing, her father grew more warlike. Tikal mistook the hapless Icarus the griffin for one of the Divines, hoping to get him to convince her father to stop courting war. They had a bit of an adventure... Anyway, these will be the only pictures of Icarus.
Ep. 8 - During the events of GeneX - A New Beginning, Kosmo reacts to the news of the Experiments now being publicly branded as outlaws. He was going to get payback on Sgt. Gunner, but learning Copter was in peril, he ultimately chose to create a distraction to help Copter escape. Razor slapped the cuffs on Kosmo, but he turned into a bee, and the cuffs slipped off.
Ep. 9 - The announcement of the Sonic Boom series threw GeneX into a fourth wall breaking panic. 2BIT himself had to give a little speech to calm everyone down at the end. This particular chapter isn't really canon. BIT Squad hadn't even been established yet!
Ep. 10 - During the season finale, most of the previous chapters were at least briefly referenced. Long story short, Punchy was driven into a rage and transformed into Dark Punchy, rampaging about the city and wrecking Mia the cat's taxi cab. Copter's mechanic, Hoover, rebuilds the taxi into a flying cab, and it carries Rainbow up to Punchy. With a desperate, tearful hug, Rainbow gets her voice through to Punchy, snapping him out of his dark form.
So... the main points of the season were Copter finding a home and Mia getting a flying cab, I guess. Oh, and Kosmo got some character development. And the Shadow mystery becomes relevant again, too, eventually. Anyway, I'll likely have more story illustrations again before long!
