This is the Everfree Forest. Quiet, peaceful, serene. That is, until Pine Thunderoak wakes up.
Happy Nightmare Night, everyone! Aside from the 4th of July and Hearth's Warming Eve, this spooky holiday is the one time of year that Pine looks forward to the most. He has quite the sweet tooth, and thus despite being 21 years old, he still has a lot of fun going trick-or-treating and getting as much candy as possible. It's not just about the candy for him though. The green pegasus enjoys participating in all the usual Nightmare Night traditions, which include carving pumpkins, playing pranks on other creatures, going to parties, and of course dressing up in costumes.
This year, Pine decided to go as someone who represents his love of nature, has a similar personality, and happens to be one of his favorite animals. That someone is Bert from the hit 1980s animated series The Raccoons. Much like Pine, he's an energetic goofball with a huge imagination, always seeking out adventure and having a bit of a mischievous side to him. However, Bert is also like Pine in that he's very kindhearted, forming strong friendships with those who are willing to give him a chance. And since 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of The Raccoons TV show (as well as the 45th anniversary of the franchise overall), this is the perfect year for the stallion to dress up as him.
To create this amusing costume, Pine used a variety of different materials. Obviously Bert is a raccoon, so the pegasus made sure to incorporate the animal's most recognizable features, those being its face markings and striped tail. He did this by tying a black mask around his eyes and painting black stripes on his tail respectively. As for Bert's more unique attributes, Pine recreated his signature bent nose by wearing a gray sock with a black tip over his own nose, and managed to find a replica of the raccoon's trademark red and yellow sweater, complete with the letter B displayed prominently on the front. He certainly looks the part, don't you think?
