Stardrop clung to Carver's mane, buried in the red fur as her small cat form kept hidden from the creatures around them. The weregrem navigated obstacles expertly, as the duo approached the hulking beast of a dead god. "Ready?" "Ready." Carver extended his hand, launching the two of them once more into another location. In this one, the beastly god had been replaced with a giant of a knight. As it turned to them, Carver bristled, his fur standing on end and his fangs bared. "I must protect them." "Wait." The weregrem paused, glancing to the snow next to him, where Stardrop had leapt down. She returned to her grem form, shaking off the transformation as she stood. "His voice... Carver, he's hurt," the blue snowgrem stated, looking upon the wary knight. She could see it in the liquid oozing, could see in his movements, and finally could see a wound deep in the shadow of the crack in his armor. "Stay here." Stardrop moved forward, approaching the corpse of the god with her hands up in a show of peace. "Star-" Carver hissed, staying put but unable to hide the fear and apprehension in his face. He wouldn't stop her- he knew he never really could- but his chest tightened as he watched her speak to the bloodstained god. His muscles strained with tension as the knight not only allowed her approach, his sword's point now buried in the snow, but reached an armored hand down to allow her assistance as she requested access to assess his wound. He saw her eyes cloud over as she came into contact with the god, tears pricking at the edges as she experienced something internally. She was absolutely vulnerable, small in a god's hand that could crush her in a moment, and Carver stayed alert for any sign of hostility. Stardrop might be willing to risk her own life to bring the traitor god a moment's comfort, but Carver would do everything in his power to protect her if her gamble went sideways.
----------------- Entry four for a prompt for the Eclipse event that went on with Grems back last month. For this one, the prompt was to either interact with the god or to think back on a time that the grem had taken a risk. Why think back on a risk you took previously, when you can take one right now to show sincerity?
