As Stardrop's actions seemed to soothe Lapsus somewhat, Carver noticed a familiar pull at his being. They must be returning to the Starfix realm, or maybe even back home, he figured. Mission accomplished and all that. He began to step forward to reunite with the snowgrem, but blackness washed over his vision first. He wasn't bothered initially, even as he felt cool water against his feet. Had they been at a beach before getting pulled into the Starfix? He couldn't remember. But as his eyes opened and he scanned over the endless sea that surrounded him, he noticed something very wrong. "Star?" He turned on the surface, ignorant to the ripples radiating below him, eyes wide and emotion flooding his chest. Where is she? "Star! Hey, hey, where are you?!" He broke into a run, his feral form allowing his frantic search to cover more ground than he typically would. Or, it would have been able to, if a giant, boney hand hadn't shot through the surface to pull him under. Instinctively he snapped his mouth shut, twisting and writhing as he tried to escape the creature's grasp before he drowned as he was dragged under. She held fast until he was forced to cough out the last of his air, and he paused in confusion as the water was perfectly breathable to him. Once he'd acknowledged that he wasn't in immediate danger of drowning, Carver turned his attention to the creature in front of him. She was leaking blue liquid- crying, oozing- and he could hear echoes of sobs. The skeleton beast seemed overcome with despair, and the situation clicked in Carver's head. Stardrop had soothed Lapsus. Did that mean that now this one, Mare, was looking for comfort too? Her head lowered, and her hand almost seemed to cradle the pouring wound in her chest. The red grem glanced around, trying to find someone, anyone better suited to the task, but a resigned sigh broke from his chest as he accepted that it would be up to him. "I'm not... great at this, but..." Carver trailed off, approaching the corpse goddess. We'd better end up back in the same place after this, he thought, steeling himself before reaching into the blue ooze of the wound, and the pain it held within.
----------------- Entry five for a prompt for the Eclipse event that went on with Grems back last month. This one and the next (final) one basically are meant to be seen as having occurred simultaneously, with Carver and Stardrop having been split up amongst the remaining gods after helping Lapsus. Hopefully that's obvious enough, haha. Pacifism isn't really Carver's go-to, but he'll give it a shot if this crying horse lady can send him back to his girlfriend lmao
