"Are you sure?" Stardrop had looked at Carver in concern as soon as he'd volunteered to undergo whatever process the mysterious blue grem had suggested. "Yeah, no problem, babe. Besides, you've got your little cat form. We've gotta even things out," the darker grem grinned at her, giving her a wink in joking assurance. "You know me. I'll be fine." Stardrop smiled gently, worry apparent, but nodded as she stepped back. "Alright.." "Your sacrifice is noble," the unnamed visitor commented to Carver as his palm began to glow. Carver closed his eyes, bearing the pain as the transformation began to pull at him. Through gritted teeth, he managed a grin, looking toward the grem. "Nothing noble about it. It's for her, and her only. The rest of this place can burn for all I care."
As the transformation settled, Carver growled and shook himself off, having landed on his front paws and adapted a much more feral form. The nameless grem retreated to the the support of the trees, resting against it as the magic use caught up to him. He saw Stardrop return to Carver's side, meeting him with the same amount of care and love that she always did, without so much as flinching. He couldn't help a small smile, seeing the compassion between the two. Perhaps their light would be able to make a difference in this dark realm after all.
----------------- Entry three for a prompt for the Eclipse event that went on with Grems back last month. Each of these entries were in response to the prompt's texts too, but hopefully they work well enough on their own to make sense.
