I applade your Grandpa for taking that stand will i am very in to spankings as an adult for fun and mental health its not some thing i agree with when used against children its one thing for a mom or dad or even a grandperent or gardion to give a cupple of swats on a butt but i think it never should be done by teachers and sertenly i dont like the use of inplements on kids and in the small amount that i think spankings can be helpfull i think it is very much a tool that should be used very speringly and only when all else fails like spanking a toddler for runing across the street its less about pain and more about getting the child to not do that very dangeres thing again

My folks never really did it and even my dad never got it worse. And it'll have been the late 50s or so (he had me quite late in life) and even the boomer that he is has no issues saying the idealized illusion we have of the time is BS. All the issues of today they had back then and in order to enforce the illusion of morality and tranquility brushed so much under the rug for us to face the damage.
