The mixed-size partnership program devised by the guildmaster was supposed to be a noble initiative with the goal of establishing bridges between normal-sized pokémon and their minuscule counterparts. The premise was very simple: Those willing to partake in the program would be assigned a nano explorer with whom they would have to form a team. Said teams would then go about their daily routines while their members exchanged cultural ties and got to know each other.
When Marcus the lycanroc first heard about the program he was thrilled. He knew exactly who he wanted to become his partner. That's why he instantly got registered and went directly to the guildmaster in order to suggest a potential candidate for the program.
Kerberos the zoroark on the other hand, was taken aback when after hearing about the initiative for the first time his name was already registered on the list of applicants. Everything made more sense a few days later when he found himself infront of the massive Lycanroc. They had known each other from past encounters while adventuring (Adventures in which Kerberos found himself under the gargantuan paw of Marcus too many times) and with time they had forged a solid friendship. Seeing that he would be partnering with a known friend, Kerberos ultimately accepted to form a team with Marcus, much to the Lycanroc's delight.
It wouldn't be until the night settled that Kerberos would see (and feel) the first cracks in the whole mixed-sized team idea. There he laid, in the middle of the night, awoken by deafening snores and partially submerged in the drool of his slumbering friend. From his point of view in the pillow, the lycanroc's maw looked like a neverending abyss, a grim reminder of how hard it might be to achieve full co-existance between norms and nanos. At least Marcus was having a pleasant night dreaming about future adventures with his zoroark pal...
