No matter the continent, every Guild apprentice always dreams of graduating and becoming a fully fledged explorer. Some apprentices are born gifted and can afford to rush through the whole process while the rest of common folks train and wait until they really feel prepared. In either case, apprentices can only become official members if they succeed in their graduation exam. However, every guildmaster enjoys total freedom when it comes to designing the trial in question. Such is the case of Lucario's guild, one of the most elite and prestigious guilds of the wind continent. Only the most capable Pokémon are allowed to join it and its graduation exams are so hard that it currently holds the highest rate of failure amongst the guilds in the continent. However, very little details are known about the graduation trial itself. Apparently unsuccessful students are so ashamed by their failure that they vanish themselves from society altogether, or so the rumours say.
Today was a special day for Chesnaught. After so many months of hard work and countless dangerous missions into A+ tier dungeons, he had been personaly selected by guildmaster Lucario for a trial of graduation. The conditions of his trial were pretty simple on paper: He would be transported to the exam dungeon, where he would have to find and retrieve a flag and a badge. Once those two objectives were completed he would be teleported back to the guild.
However, nothing could have prepared Chesnaught for what the real dungeon would be like. After being put to sleep by the guildmaster's second in command, and shrunk to less than an inch in size, Chesnaught starts to recollect those old rumours about the disappearances of failing students. Nevertheless, there's not much he can do at this point but to stare at the opening abyss below him, and get ready for what is going to be the mission of his life...
