I have so many of these to catch up on. One of them is exceptionally long and is what the main holdup is, but I should post some of the shorter ones. Here is one of those now. Also not a criminal this time! The golduck that serves as 2nd in command of the mist continent guild. Chiba!
This beautiful artwork was done by Refinedsalt. ------ Back when Kalla the dewgong was in charge of the mist continent guildhall, Chiba was a psyduck that joined on to work as a supporting member, aiding others at the guild in ways that did not involve combat or going on missions. While he excelled at the various managerial duties assigned to him, the previous leader and current trainer, a walrein named Bollie, noted the psyduck's innately strong aura and combat potential. Little came of it, until a plan was put into motion, that saw Kalla assassinated by what was rumored to be the frost demons. Many members quickly clammored for Bollie to take over as acting guild leader once more, but the dewgong's dying wish was to have Zarsil be put in charge of the guild should something happen. This led to many of the guilds stronger members abandoning it, leaving to work on other continents or as freelance exploration teams due to a disagreement with the idea that a female be put in charge of the guild. Due to the large exodus, new members needed to be trained up, forcing the psyduck to join on as a full fledged trainee member.
With Bollie taking over as temporary leader, as the walrein noticed, Chiba grew quickly, his skill in combat being exceptional despite not being inclined towards it. This was in stark comparison to Zarsil, who despite being put in charge, exibited very little combat skill or talent, leading to the ninetails quickly becoming more of a figurehead.
Once evolved, the golduck was exceptional, out performing all the other trainees. Despite not being of the required rank within the E.T.F. to become one, was promoted to second in command, following Bollie's step down from the position. In this new position, the guild found itself a very calm and organized member, with most of the guild seeing the golduck as the actual guild leader, despite Zarsil holding the official badge and title.
Other information Being a golduck that grew up in the colder climate of the mist continent, Chiba sports a few off color portions on his body, helping to conceal some parts of his form in the snow. His adaptation to the cold leaves him with a thicker coat of feathers, that help to repel the frigid water.
Chiba has a very well built frame, keeping much of his species iconic thin and sinew frame intact, but the harsh training the walrein put him through left him with a small set of visible muscle definition in the arms. He wears long, baggy white sleeves with light blue cuffs to keep them on, while having a thin, light blue veil over his body, clasped together with the classic exploration team diamond rank badge.
Chiba is calm, collected, rational and loyal. Making it to 2nd in command at the guild, Chiba is fiercely loyal to the guild. He aids Zarsil as the one that often goes afield, leading small teams to train. Chiba likewise also works as an informant, gathering information across the continent and bringing it to Zarsil, making him an efficient spy for the ninetails in question.
While Chiba is no doubt far more capable than Zarsil in terms of combat skills and leadership ability, his lack of confidence and hatred of being in charge limit him to being the second in command at the guild, working for Zarsil and following her orders. He likewise is less tactical and ruthless by comparison, letting his compassion for others sometimes cloud his judgement and causing him to hold back when he shouldn’t. Despite being told by many that he would be a good guild leader, he prefers the position he has and dutifully performs his job to the utmost of his ability, serving Zarsil and making sure the princess of the ice continent is served and protected.
Chiba is a skilled fighter that relies on fast, ranged combat with an emphasis on status, debilitation and deception. While not especially strong in a direct fight, the golduck is extremely good at capitalizing on enemy weak points and chipping away at them with weaker moves.
