So I bought a new printer some weeks ago and have finally decided to unbox it. Before I could use it proper, the printer had to do its alignment thing ...which cost me a sheet of paper. Ah, but never fear---I could yet scribble on the test sheet, so I did, whilst watching an episode of Popples (1986): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34doiHYknck
I decided to draw Pixel Popple. Why? Because I could. I also haven't much practice ...I mean 'puh-puh-puh-practice' drawing popples, so why not take the opportunity? (no sense having popple OCs if I can't draw them).
I hadn't meant to publish these Pixel scribbles, but fact is I've been destroying the comics intended for upload (three so far---destroying them for one damn reason or another). So I thought to just submit Pixel for the sake of having content (that's a great way to describe my art: "content').
And, no, the ball form of Pixel isn't a coloring mistake: the inside of Pixel's pouch is also bi-colored, and is checker-boarded (red-behind-green/vice-versa) so that when flipped inside-out, Pixel's harlequin pattern is maintained (very stylish). :3
I've written about my popples before, so I'll spare repeating most of the details about Pixel. Suffice it to say he's co-leader of The Giggle Six, next to Sir Parry (yes, Parry is ...or was! a knight ...don't ask).
There isn't much new I have to say about Pixel; his story has pretty much remained the same, so I need something else to write here...
Oh!
In related news, I found an *online copy of Star Comics's 'Care Bears 5':
*yes, of course I bought a physical copy ...when I could've just used my new printer to print one... nevermind (toner is expensive ...yeah, that's my excuse!): https://www.deviantart.com/stash/0r60jzoqawg
This find was significant because the story serves as a prequel to the second Care Bears movie ...which the Care-Bear lore of my popples story: 'Giggle Six' (TG6) is based on (personally I prefer the first movie, but most of the 80s Care-Bear lore refers to the second film).
Having read the comic, I've had to rewrite some of my own story to make it fit, but I've only made my work better by so doing (and no I won't be uploading it anywhere, though select watchers may get a chance to see some of it). :3
What do care bears have to do with my popples?
TG6 is a sequel to 'It Had to be You': a dumb, sentimental Popples/Care-Bears crossover I wrote (and uploaded!) a couple years or so ago (in my world, pops and cares co-exist, and have some history between them).
Drawing theory is when you know everything, but nothing actually works. Drawing practice is when you don't know anything, yet things still work. In art we combine both theory and practice, nothing works, and nobody knows why.
Ah Pixel, he is COVERED in pixels, those colored squares. Perhaps, today, he would be the most p-p-powerful P-p-popple there is. (Let us hope that Pox Popple is never freed from their intedimensional prison!)
They remind me ob bubble gum.
