Having found a good amount of useful parts in an hardware store, Xan decided to head back home before it getting too dark. After spotting bandits roaming withing the city's ruins, however, he's now forced to take an alternate route to avoid being detected. He was debating with leaving the loot behind and come back later when the coast is clear but risking the bandits or scavengers picking it up or keep going and increase the chances getting caught by the bandits. He decided on the latter since he didn't want to lose his loot.
The alternate path he have to take is among destroyed buildings, which isn't an easy task to get through and doesn't help with the heavy loot he is carrying. Half-way on the path, he was starting to have second thoughts on his decision to carry all that loot, but it was too late as he slipped on a rock. Failed to recover his footing, he felled from a large pile of rubble and rendered unconscious while having his head knocked around during the fall.
Unfortunately for him, his fall cause a lot of noise as his bag when undone in the process and dropped all over the place, which attracted the attention of the bandits he wanted to avoid.
"Look what we have here!", said one of the bandits. "Not only we have found a pile of handy junk, we also have found a cute guy as well!"
After gathering the loot that was scattered around, they also picked up Xan after tying him up. From there, only the bandit knows what happened to this drakenclaw afterward.
