Mirage has always had an interesting upbringing. After all, when the one who gave birth to you is technically under house arrest, and your other dad's actual husband is the GUN agent who arrested the first one, it seems a bit awkward...
But Infinite, Manic, and Shadow have raised this hedgejackal well, even helping him use his innate ability for illusions. The gems in his ears are genetic mutations from the Phantom Ruby, too small to make them manifest in real life. Safe to say, some of Manic's and Infinite's... interests... have been inherited, and he's amde the most of it as an exotic dancer. He adds flair to his shows with illusory flames, bubbles, sparkles, afterimages, and more.
That's not to say he's no fighter. Shadow made sure to show him how to put power behind his dance moves, while Infinite taught him swordplay and using his illusions to fight.
