Charlotte has been bullied for as long as she can remember. She tries not to let it get her down, but her tormentors certainly do their darndest to get to her, to great success - unfortunately. This is why she decided to begin her lust for power. She'll get her revenge soon enough, but how?

There's an old saying about bullying..."It's always funny until somebody gets hurt".

I've actually seen it happen at a company I worked for in the early 1980s. It was the bully who eventually got himself hurt.

In my experience, it was funny to nobody bar them. It actually took them escalating things for my do something about it, though. Until then, I just responded with my own insults (which were so aggressively middle class that they seemed more confused by them than insulted). Funny how schools only care when it could become a scandal.

As added context, the school had only instituted a sexual harassment policy a week prior to me actually reporting it (after about 2 years of it occurring daily). I didn't report it sooner because I didn't think they'd do anything about it - as they usually didn't. I didn't even think it was sexual harassment until it was pointed out to me by someone else. I was never good at dealing with bullying without resorting to physical force. However, because everyone had hit puberty, and I'm built like a ruler (the object, not King Charles III), I mostly stuck to responding with the best insults I could muster - some of which were paraphrased from Monty Python And The Holy Grail. This was ineffective, but at least made it into more of a spectacle for the audience - which probably made it worse, in hindsight.

Anyway, thanks for the comment. I've never heard that saying before, to be honest.
