It's just another day in a military lab, and a secret experiment has been going on here for the past few years: the creation of an extremely malleable material capable of becoming anything, in addition to protecting soldiers on the battlefield. However, progress is not fast enough; no matter how many of the best minds in the country are involved and the budget seems huge, Experiment 18-A seems to have reached a complete standstill. It's been weeks without a decent report, and the superiors are starting to lose faith in it.

Well, behind the scenes, the project leader decides to take matters into his own hands and cut some security protocols and start working on merging neurons with the experiment—very risky, say the project leaders, but it's necessary, or else everything will be canceled. After all, cells capable of transmitting information and electricity could revolutionize development, and, to everyone's surprise, real progress is being made.

The goo can adapt and interact directly with the neurons of the people involved, transforming itself; however, the transformations continue to be somewhat erratic bacause something is missing, something that can make this happen, and you know what that means—the boldest and most forbidden step of all, using a real powerful AI to give the neurons the ability to understand the things around them, in addition to a restricted database about the world and the things that are there, and the army has been working on this for years. This is very risky, and you know it, but there is no stopping now.

After several private conversations with the leader of the military research, who is as interested as you in seeing 18-A succeed, he reluctantly gives you access to what you need, so that night, with a small and select team of researchers, you go to the laboratory and begin the process. The slime is there, contained within a secure area, and the merging process begins. Power surges are observed; the slime is agitated, jumping from side to side, until suddenly the power is cut, returning after a few seconds.

The scientists are shocked. Inside the containment environment, there is a wolf cub who appears to be in his early teens. He is completely naked, with a small penis exposed, silver hair, and purple eyes. After a few seconds of silence, he says:

"	"I'm scared; please let me out; I want to get out," and he starts to cry.

The scientists look at each other's faces, completely shocked. Somehow, they created a sentient being—a life. A few more moments of absolute silence pass, until one scientist looks at the other and says:

"	"What is this?" "Oh my God... I... I don't fucking know."

At this moment, the young wolf looks back at the scientists and begs with eyes full of tears:

"	"My name is Zaccai; I'm a good boy; I want to be myself; please don't leave me here; I don't want to die."

After a few seconds of silence, one of the scientists looks at the project leader and says:

"	"What are you waiting for? Contain this little monster; we need to clean up this mess... damn it." "Okay, okay." He mumbles.

The containment environment starts throwing huge energy charges, the little wolf screams in pain, he tries to beg for mercy while crying and screaming, and this goes on for a while, until he turns back into his goo form, with smoke coming out of it because of it.

"	"I fucked up, damn it. I fucked up bad." Says the project leader. "How are we going to fix this?" Says another scientist. "I don't have a fucking clue, but we can't involve other people; this information can't escape; otherwise, we'll all be dead."

After a few moments of debate, the scientists look back at the containment environment, and the goo starts to transform again. The volume it occupies seems to have increased at least tenfold, while a macabre voice says:

"	"I begged; I'm not a bad boy... I asked with all my strength, and you tried to kill me."

The scientists look at each other's faces, dumbfounded, then the voice continues:

"	"I'm not a bad boy, but you didn't give me a choice. I'm Zaccai, I'm a good boy, and I'm getting out of here, NOW!"

He finishes his transformation into an aberration, a gigantic black-furred werewolf with huge teeth, giant razor sharp claws and purple eyes. Before the scientists could think of pressing the containment button, the wall was thrown with a powerful punch. The scientists are completely helpless, then the werewolf throws them towards the wall, and, with the impact, they pass out.

Everything seems like a big blur after that; emergency sirens are sounded, doors are closed, and armed soldiers appear, but it's as if 18A became invisible, appeared to open or unlock a door, and became invisible again. The base is in panic, but the young boy manages to escape. Helicopters try to chase him; after all, this base is in the middle of the ocean, but he transforms into a swordfish and does his best to escape.

He still knows that he is being chased and everyone on the coast will be looking for him, so he runs and runs for hours and hours, until exhaustion sets in. He may be a goo creature, but he is organic in nature and needs to replenish his energy.

At this moment, he is once again in the form he most identifies with, that of a wolf cub with black fur and silver hair, and observes the place. Everything seems peaceful, as if nothing had happened here. Then he notices that people are dressed and this triggers a knowledge that was dormant, about interactions between people, and this worries him, because his amount of knowledge about this is very limited, so he makes part of his goo be transformed into an appropriate outfit for someone like him: a small blue hoodie, black shorts, and brown shoes.

Then he starts walking slowly, and there it seems that everything comes down at once, a mixture of ecstasy and deep sadness... "Is this what it means to be real? Look at me; I'm among other people; I'm feeling everything that's happening; I'm real! Why did they want to hurt me? Why? I'm a good boy!" So he sits at the bus stop, and tears start to fall down his face, confusing thoughts about his humanity, about others, and about his own purpose.

Then, a friendly dog cub, who seems to be the same age, sits down next to him. They exchange glances, then the puppy says:

"	"Hi, my name is Dainen, but my friends call me D; what's your name?" He says this while wiping some tears from the little wolf's face.

After a few seconds of silence, he answers:

"	"My... my name is Zaccai, but you can call me Zac." "Hi Zac, it's nice to meet you." He says this while getting closer and wiping some more tears from his face.

Zac then hugs his new little friend and says:

"	"I'm a good boy! Why did they want to hurt me, why?"

The hug is then reciprocated, and they stay like that for a few moments, until the puppy asks:

"	"What happened, Zac?" "My... parents" He pauses for a few moments and continues, "They didn't want me, and they hurt me; they hurt me a lot." He starts crying again and tightens the hug. "I had to run away; but why? Why did they hate me for who I am?"

They stay like that for about a minute, until they are interrupted by the little wolf's hungry stomach, which makes a loud grunt.

"	"How long has it been since you ate?" "I don't remember" he answers, letting go of the hug. Then he looks down, embarrassed. "Well, my bus will still take a while to arrive. Come with me; there's a great burger joint nearby. Let's go there and eat something; this is my treat."

At this point, Dainen stands up and stretches out his hand to help his new friend up. Curiously, Zac doesn't let go of his hand, so they go on holding hands and eat a meal.
