The 4th appearance ever of Felix Yagablin, this time along side Shaw, against a new bully character Malcolm. Drawn sometime around 2001. Part of a series that way predates me joining IB. My earliest recognizable "Furry Series" about a pair of orphan boys turned friends turned lovers, the characters of Shaw and Felix pictured to the left.
The language seen here is not japanese, although it is read vertically, but rather an invented "language" known as Dreamspeak, invented to hide the characters dialogue since at the time at the age of 17 I didnt want anyone to know what this series was actually about.
Its a little hard to describe succinctly but it is a dark scifi fantasy taking place in a world where anthromorphs are the norm and have evolved or rather were engineered initially from humans over tens of thousands of years becoming something neither human nor animal, neither living nor machine. Despite the advanced technologies that brought them about the anthros shown here live in a primitive slummy world not unlike our own 1920s. The vast majority of individuals live in manufactored slums, while a mysterious elite manipulate things undetected and possibly unbeknownst to the denizens.
Shaw is a mysterious boy who exhibits deformities and possibily unusual abilities who was separated from an orphan girl found caring for him when they were both sent to the orphanage. There he meets Felix, a shy effeminate outcast. The two begin a forbidden friendship and plot to escape the orphanage while also having to survive its brutal unregulated social structure practically run by the orphans themselves. Here we see open bullying from someone higher on the social hierarchy, but Shaw has convinced Felix to join him to fight back.
