[Babyfur] Quite The Colorful Afternoon

[Babyfur] Taking It Slow In The Traffic
quite_the_colorful_afternoon.txt

Length: 1,843 words

Ah….what a beautiful day. Not too dim, not too bright, but just right, the sun shares its light so well-rounded in its warmth that not even the most sensitive need to worry about sunburns. Ensuring such soothing sunshine is here to stay are skies so sublime in their spotless state, not a single gray cloud sullying the serene in the slightest. With all this wonderfully welcoming weather, one would think it’s only natural that Emily seizes this day outdoors, that she shakes things up with the loud laughter and rowdy romping totally trademark for toddlers like herself.

scribble…scribble…scribble

But on this afternoon, the skunk simply satisfied to stay inside only adds to such senses of serenity as she partakes in a more peaceful kind of playtime. Rather than having a ball with the bouncy ball often as off the walls as her with barrages of BOING! BOING! BOING! and “Bouncy! Bouncy! Bouncy!”, rather than having a blast with the building blocks often building up to big messes with the SMASH! and CRASH! of her boisterous bottom, instead soft sounds of scribbles bend the silence ever so slightly and the pink-shirted tot sitting rather still is cool to just….color.

scribble…scribble…scribble

Carpeted floors and crinkly garments give the kid consummate comfort, and crayons are the catalyst for only the most composed kinds of creation as Emily enjoys the bountiful calmness of her coloring book with a content smile.

scribble…scribble…scribble

Meandering not even the least bit from the lines laid out for her, such precise and polished strokes of the crayon pair the little girl’s light giggles as she bestows the beauty of color onto a background all the more beautiful, a setting more serene than her own surroundings, none other than the beach so suited for the sublimity of summertime’s splendor.

scribble…scribble…scribble

And, although known for those rambunctious “BLOOOORT!”’s and boom booms she does in her diapers every day, the bushy-tailed tot who often stinks would not think to even blemish the beach backdrop with stains or splotches, much less any sort of vulgar visual.

scribble…scribble…scribble

Being nothing but respectful to Mother Nature’s designs, the waters that wash all worries away need not worry one bit now that Emily’s made them a bright light blue, a color so concretely capturing both its calming and captivating qualities.

“Oooooh!”

With those cool colors covering once white space, so too does the toddler’s mind make space for summer outings where she’s going splish…splash…splish…splash  in saltier seas, where basking in that brine brings bodily blessings perfectly balancing between warm and cold conditions. Ahhhh…what an enjoyable excursion that would be.

scribble…scribble…scribble

Extending her courtesies to land and sea alike, neither does a single speck of sand need to fret for a single second as the skunk gives gratitude to every granule with lovely light brown.

“Wooooow!”

Fully realized terrains then make the magenta-furred fella realize that she’s already made friends with such a surface, that playtime at the park has made her buddy-buddy with the sandbox. Wow…to think of the beach as a big sandbox, where building sand castles is all the more amazing in that sublime summer ambiance, where those wonderful ocean waves sing relaxing rhythms of rise….and fall….rise….and fall while the skunk’s scooping of sand supplements such a song, where crabs, seagulls, and all those beloved beach buddies she can befriend provide the perfect audience for her play. Ahh…such a splendid sojourn that would be.

scribble…scribble…scribble

Last, but certainly not least, is the one most deserving of their time to shine for the light they shine, the one putting the “sun” in “fun in the sun”. Ensuring she’s capturing every bit of its luminous beauty, all is sunshine and rainbows for that bright ball in the sky as Emily makes it by far the warmest wonder in the background with yellow and orange crayons capturing all of that renowned radiance.

scribble…scribble

Ah, but wait just a moment. Although she’s so flawlessly filled up the page, a black crayon now connotes the little kid’s taking some creative liberties. Those dreading that darkest color need not worry one bit about the toddler tainting anything, however, for black is only making things all the brighter. And, so too are smiles now are all the brighter as she gives the sun a smiley face, for it’s only fair she deems the sun such a benevolent being when, beyond bedazzling the beach background before her, beyond giving the tot her own time to shine with super cute swimsuits and swim diapers, it’ll ensure she’ll have so much to enjoy with summer in full swing.

“Yay! Yay! Yay!”
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

But, fun as it is to ponder what more is in store amidst such a season, for now, Emily is more than happy to just sit back and enjoy the moment, to simply appreciate the fruits of concluded creative pursuits as she closes the show with her own well-deserved round of applause.

End

“Hehehehe!”

Ohohohohoho, you actually thought it was over? Nonsense! This show’s just getting started! Coloring pages may be complete, but her creative juices won’t stop flowing anytime soon! So much sitting around means she’s got super duper high shares of silly energy to spare! You silly goose! Did you forget this diaper-clad kid’s always been such a comically and unequivocally carefree, such a flippantly and frequently frivolous, goofy, giddy, and giggly goofball of a girl?

“Hehehehe!”

From seated to standing in a split second, she’s so ready and set to go be her rambunctious self as fistfuls of crayons containing clusters of colors ripe for chaos show the toddler’s prepared to not purely just paint the town red. Now looking down at the big diaper between her legs, all while wearing a bigger smile that screams of silly shenanigans, if coloring books have educated Emily on anything, it’s that no white space should go uncolored, of course!

SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE!

Bah! But even those very books can be so constricting to creative kids like her! No need for premade pictures to dictate what she must draw when her diaper always knows how to go with the flow! Red dots! Green scribbles! Blue circles! Purple stars! The front of her once plain pampers are so full of possibility, so abundant with expressions not expecting even an iota of rhyme of reason!

“Hehehehe! Yay yay yay!”
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

No doubt Emily’s abstract art deserves her own silly seal of approval, but so swiftly does the skunk also realize her diaper isn’t the only thing to design. One super silly second later, one mischievous moment later, and….

“Hehehehe! Hahahaha!”

SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE!

…the tot’s already turned the crayon into make-up! She certainly isn’t one to malign her magenta fur, but alas Emily figures it’d be such a blast to brighten things up a bit as she gives her cheeks a glow-up with an assortment of yellows and oranges.

“Oooh! I know what ta do!”

Although, as much as she’d love to further improve this frivolous facial, the toddler’s well aware there’s still another canvas in need of color as she turns to face the back of the living room. After all, just look at those lackluster walls! Nothing…absolutely nothing to aesthetically appreciate! Not a lick of liveliness whatever! Not even the colorful kid can commend this kind of color scheme! It’s bland…it’s basic…it’s barebones…it’s…….BEIGE. Boooooring!

“Hehehehe!”

SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE! SCRIBBLE!

Fortunately for this fun-loving furry fella, such uninspired scenery gives her all the more reason to continue her craft as she adorns the walls with her whimsy. Hearts, happy faces, butterflies, flowers, and so much more now occupy every crevice the little kid’s capable of coloring, and to the eccentric and ecstatic Emily, that’s exactly how it should be! No reason the little artist should limit herself to a single page when the whole wide world can be her coloring book!

Step…step…step…

However, for the skunk without the luxury of being so wacky on a whim, for the mother whose role demands discipline no matter no how much wiggle room she’d like between the lines, what she stumbles upon downstairs won’t exactly paint a pretty picture.

“Emily! Oh my goodness!”

Ten minutes of a power nap…just ten minutes is all the time it takes for Emily to unwittingly make Elizabeth question, even if merely for a moment, whether she’s actually awake or if oversleeping has her stuck in some strange fever dream. As much as she’d love to appreciate her kid’s handiwork, for the parent who’s gotta teach the tot right from wrong, all those cutesy and colorful symbols must be considered graffiti her girl is guilty of. As funny as the yellow and orange scribbles on the little skunk’s face may be to the both of them, as amusing as it is to see her daughter did design work on her diaper, the caregiver compelled to follow her creed of cleanliness knows both of those things denote another domestic duty, bath time.

“Hi, Mommy! Wook what I did! Ish so pwetty!” says the ever so innocent Emily.

Despite the extra chores in store, such silly shenanigans aside, Elizabeth still knows it’d be even sillier to severely punish the skunk who’s still in diapers, to condemn the kind-hearted kid for just getting her creative juices flowing, even if she spilled them all over the place.

“Why yes, those are some very pretty drawings, sweetheart!” Elizabeth says as she scoops up the still smiling skunk. “But, next time, keep all those crayons on the paper, silly! Mommy can’t play with you if she’s gotta clean all this up!”

“Hehehe! Okay, Mommy! I……..mmmmmmmph!”

Uh oh! Before Emily can completely comprehend taking more caution when coloring, she immediately realizes there’s another color she almost completely ignored as shifting bowels suddenly shift her priorities.

SPLOOOOORTCH!!!

Strained grunts and squishy farts make Elizabeth rapidly realize her daughter’s about to take a dump, and so, knowing she’s simply doing what little skunks do best, even while Emily’s face gets all the more scrunched, the mother still softly smiles as impending poopies further reinforce what’s always been reality….

PBLAAAAAARMPH!!! SLUUUUUUMP!

….In all their silliness and shamelessness, in all their immense ignorance and innocence, those same traits that make them so immensely lovable in the first place, little kids are bound to bring big messes their way.

“Mommy! I made poo poo!” Emily says with the goofiest of grins, as though well aware of that reality herself.

“Well, good thing Mommy’s already got a bath for you in mind!” Elizabeth then says as she starts to carry her upstairs.

Off the wall antics are all over the walls, Emily’s dirtied her diaper inside and out, and her face is just as stained with several colors. All signs may point to more shenanigans from that silly skunk, but no matter the mayhem, that truth will always stay intact.

Kids will be kids, making messes along the way. Parents will be parents, still loving them every day.
