PAGE 20
Panel 98: A brown cow synth in a blue nun outfit has finished changing Zyn into a slip-on cloth diaper (so that when they shrink they’ll still be clothed).
Caption: No cub can avoid this moment. From the humblest laborer, to dukes, duchesses, kings and queens. Even the Princex of Maeria isn’t immune to RIMA.

Panel 99: The cow synth puts Zyn in a regression pod. To the right is a yellow-orange fox cub in a long coat with gold rings on the shoulders. He is looking on with a soft expression by the console that controls the regression pod.
Caption: The caretaker synths, much longer lived than us, tell us to not look at mind wipes as ONLY bad.

Panel 100: An entranced Zyn, staring vacantly as drool dribbles from their mouth.
Caption: In a way, it’s good for the world, letting new people with new thoughts and ideas have a turn at making a change. At the very least, this gives the patient a chance at being something new.

Panel 101: A sad Val is in the arms of the brown cow synth, being consoled by her.
Caption: The caretaker on duty told me that it was still okay to be sad about saying goodbye forever to my Nony. It was okay to always be sad about it.

Panel 102: Val looking up at the stars. A crescent moon hangs in the sky on a silvery clouded night. Stars twinkle at her as one among their number streaks by. Val and Leika's smiling faces appear above in the heavens, smiling down at her.
Caption: Nony and Mommy were the two guiding stars in my life. They were wonderful people who made me the person I am today. Could it be possible for them to be even better people in their next lives? I couldn’t help feeling distraught about what was happening. About saying goodbye.

That would be a non Canon work, but I'm okay with that as long as you are.

Who is the Princex of Maeria?

With mother gone, the Princex/Prince/Princess of Maeria is a spot occupied by a biological Maerian (as opposed to a caretaker synth). It is a purely ceremonial position occupied by the person for life. They are elected from a pool of cubs when they are still very young and brought up basically living a pampered life in what would be understood to be the ideal model of what Maeria would have wanted all the littles to live. Sadly, Maeria's economic system isn't quite at post scarcity yet so there are still tiers of economic strata that mean only very very Maerians can enjoy the luxury of the upper classes. Basically, this would be a life where you are given only the best, waited on hand and foot, and given whatever your heart wishes at any given moment.

Their title is chosen by them as they grow and gain more self actualization. They still have important responsibilities of course. The princex's role is primarily centered around administration of Maerian ceremonies and holidays. They don't have any say in the government as that is left to the cub council. They are given a annuity by the government that gives them some financial power which they are expected to use mostly for charity and the betterment of all Maerians. Most Princexes have been viewed as innocent, naive, and seperated from the petty politics of the state.
