I think he stuck a mic in it (hence the cord). Not sure how it works but somehow the other input was hooked up to the guitarist’s pedalboard.

I played bassoon in school.
Giving the Burping Bedpost some electric feedback should be an interesting experience.

When I was upstairs I thought I was hearing a trumpet. The sound was totally altered thru the pedalboard.

Going from a woodwind baritone/bass sound to a tenor/alto brass sound is a radical transformation, yes.
Do you know about the Big Band leader and vocalist Vaughn Monroe? His voice always sounded like a human bassoon to me.
And the twin bassoon jam during 'You Can't Win' from 'The Wiz' will never not delight me.
