fun lil tidbit factoid that has no bearing on the story at all but is only a lil background detail;
that vixen on kitchen duty Pharan mentions is Erin, Aryn's mom/Nass' aunt. She wasn't able to get any screen time during these previous chapters, but i still wanted her to play a role in the story nonetheless dammit

Only a miracle can fight back and save the kingdom!
We need GUTS! Save the princess! Join the resistance! Start the revolution for the next chapter! And make Sho-moron's army pay for what they have done!

In the what if scenario I came up with, the Taruki Kingdom is considered a super power among the Eastlands.
In the same way Rome, Greece, Ethiopia and Egypt were super powers in ancient times.
And in the same way the U.S. is a super power in the modern world.

Another what if scenario pic would be interesting from what I've posted a few comments down...Shomari standing trial on war crime charges in the ancient Rome like Kingdom of Taruki that took him down, along with defeating his army, thus liberating the Fennics. Three lions keeping Shomari under control with steel chain tethers during his trial.
I can imagine the Kingdom of Taruki distributing posters offering, "Reward, Dead or alive, 500 gold aurei, for the capture of Shomari the Conqueror", before they finally got him.
500 aurei back then being like $5,000,000 in today's economy.

I had thought of a scenario with an interesting twist of fate;

It is a known fact that soon after a nation or kingdom had fought a war, their military is not as strong until they had time to recuperate and build their forces back up from their losses during battles.
Entering the twist of fate...Suppose there was a 3rd kingdom, Kingdom of Taruki, that had always dreamed of ambitions of conquering Shomari's kingdom long before Shomari's forces ever invaded the Kingdom of the Fennics.  The only reason the Taruki Kingdom never carried out those ambitions was because Shomari's kingdom had always been too militarily powerful for them to try it.

However, from observations gathered by spies and recon agents, the Kingdom of Taruki, now knows Shomari's military forces are in that vulnerable weakened state still recuperating from their last war, thus rendering the Kingdom of Taruki's military being now more powerful than Shomari's military.
King Cheetah and his military leaders (consting of genets, a lion, a leopard, hyenas and mongooses) of the Taruki Kingdom decide now is the opertunity to make that move on Shomari's kingdom before they have a chance to build back their military power to what it was before the war.
King Cheetah's victory in that scenario would place Shomari's subjects along with the Fennics under their rule, thus starting the rise of The Taruki Empire.

A thought occurred to me about that scenario I came up with:
In this scenario theory, after the fall of Shomari's kingdom, King Cheetah of the Taruki Kingdom would grant the Fennecs their liberation and the return of their sovereignty to them. Also they would take Shomari and his commanders to the Taruki Kingdom to stand trial in behalf of Shajarat for the war crimes Shomari and his forces committed against the Fennics of Shajarat.
I pictured them being tried by a panel of six judges...Three judges being high ranking Taruki military officers...The other three judges being Fennec high ranking military officers who are invited to travel to the Taruki Kingdom to serve on the bench along side the Taruki judges.

King Cheetah and his government officials were not really interested in subjugating the Fennics of Shajarat. Their main goal was to take Shomari down and annex the lands of his kingdom because of Shomari being a thorn in the side to the region with his track record of launching unprovoked attacks of conquest and brutality against peaceful kingdoms. The inhabitants of the Kingdom of Taruki are very empathetic about injustices committed against the innocent.

By the way...I imagine the Taruki Kingdom as being very advanced and highly developed with well established infrastructure systems, houses and buildings constructed to high standards of workmanship, the invention of concrete, paved highways, major stone arch bridges, and a culture of knowledge and enlightenment, all of which rivals that of ancient Rome.
Their military weapons and equipment are the most advanced and fearful for that day and time.
Even though a king and queen are the heads of state, the Taruki Kingdom operates like a republic with a parliament and senate consisting of publicly elected officials.
In the scenario mentioned here, it is this kind of kingdom that set out coming after Shomari and his henchbeasts.

Shomari's Adventures in Nuremburg

In the scenario I came up with, Shomari would think he's in Nuremburg by the time they get him and his surviving officers to the Taruki Kingdom to stand trial.
They would be tried by a panel of six military judges. Three judges from the Taruki military centurion ranks (general ranks) being that it was the Taruki military that liberated Shajarat. And three judges from the Shajarat general ranks or lords being that Shomari's forces launched an unprovoked invasion against the Shajarat Kingdom.

and myself have the scenario ongoing in more detail in the PMs.
The Taruki military used scythed chariots against Shomari's soldiers. Those were war chariots that had long scythe blades sticking out from the wheels. The scythed chariots would always attack in a linear formation straight across. There was no escape. Shomari's soldiers got sliced up by the scythe blades as the chariots passed by. And the attacks on Shomari's encampments came during the night, and came swift and quick without warning. It was beyond the worse nightmare Shomari's soldiers had ever imagined.
The front walls of the chariots also extended up as a 6 foot high shield with upper and lower window slots. The lower slot was for the chariot driver to see through. The upper slot was much wider and was for the archer to shoot arrows out of.
As a result of this design, chariot drivers were chosen from the ranks of shorter animals. The taller animals were archers who stood in the chariot behind the driver and shot arrows out of the above archer's window slot.
The high chariot shields with the window slots made it next to impossible for Shomari's forces to shoot Taruki soldiers as their war chariots approached. The horses were also outfitted with armor, thus making the chariots practically unstoppable.

Another fearful weapon in the arsenal of the Taruki military were ballista catapults.
Instead of hurtling things with a launching arm like typical catapults do, a ballista catapult launches wood or iron poles off of a long track powered by powerful springs...much like launching a javelin.
It is speculated a ballista could launch an iron pole for a third of a mile or more.
Taruki soldiers would launch sections of straight tree trunks with 20 foot chains bolted in by one end from a third mile away. When launched from their ballistas at Shomari's soldiers, the poles would tumble upon striking the ground at high speed with the 20 chains whipping around everywhere dismembering and decapitating them.
Another projectile launched from their ballistas at Shomari's forces during the heat of battle were iron poles with six foot long double edge blades producing out from it. Those bladed iron poles shot into groups of Shomari's soldiers would slice them into pieces.

The Taruki Military has also mastered psychological warfare.Leaflets would be dropped around for Shomari's young soldiers to find, which read:
" "Please read this warning, my comrads in arms.
The warlord, Shomari, who we have faithfully served is culling a quarter of us out. Shomari has gone stalk raving mad. Our generals have gone stalk raving mad. Those of us who fail to meet Shomari's new standard of proficiency are being taken into the desert and mass executed. About a quarter of our soldiers who helped seize the Fennec Kingdom are now dead by orders of our lord and master, Shomari.
I and three others who are now traveling with me were stationed near the Fennic Royal Palace. We failed to meet Shomari's new standards and were slated for execution, but we have managed to escape.
When the generals show up at your encampment, about a quarter of you there will be culled and executed as well.
If you are not the best of the best what Shomari now expects I plead with you to get out while you are still alive as we did.
Once I get back home to my family, we might have to flee to another kingdom where we'll be safe."

Commanders of Taruki's military have seen this trick work before in past wars they've fought.

I had also thought of a pinnacle of that scenario:

Liberation of the Fennec Royal Palace is almost complete, but Shomari is not presently at the palace. Taruki interrogators began questioning captured soldiers about Shomari's whereabouts, and are told he is away for a few days on some mission. Thus a Taruki messenger is sent by chariot, escorted by several war chariots for protection, to notify platoons patrolling remote areas to locate Shomari.
Some of the Fennics already liberated tell the Taruki soldiers and their commander that Princess Esther is traveling in a harem wagon with Naunet, Selena and others. The Fennics give a description of the double section wagon.
Immediately, the battalion commander sends another messenger by chariot, escorted by several war chariots, to notify the patrols about the wagon.
The commander's orders are, "That wagon is not to be attacked. Princess Esther is aboard it. Others are traveling with her who are friends and not foe, so the princess is safe. We just about got Shomari's forces here at the palace mopped up, so when that wagon is located, have it directed back here. And I want to see a sizeable escort of our war chariots protecting it too".
In the scenario, Returning Taruki patrol battalions form up a legion and go after Shomari's huge main camp not far from the place. That battle was big enough where Taruki soldiers had to disembark from their chariots and fight Shomari's soldiers paw to paw with sword and dagger. Shomari's camp suffered far greater losses than the Taruki legion did. Taruki soldiers were far better trained than Shomari's soldiers were. Shomari's camp was defeated, and Shomari was captured and taken to the Royal Palace dungeon.
Not long after, the harem wagon with Esther and the others was located by a Taruki patrol battalion.
One of the wagon drivers asked, "Who are you guys?! Please don't harm us!".
The battalion Centuion, a hyena, had his chariot driver pull along aside the harem wagon.
"I call truce. We need to talk", the centurion informed the wagon drivers.
After the wagon drivers agreed, the Centurion assured them, "I am Centurion Cyrus Hyena of the Taruki Kingdom. We are not here to fight you. We've come to liberate this land from Shomari and his legions".
"Lord Astor has heard about you guys", Esther said.
"And who do I have the pleasure, Mame?", Cyrus Hyena asked.
"I'm Princess Esther", Esther replied as the other girls affirmed.
"It's an honor meeting you, your highness", Centurion Cyrus Hyena said. "Let us go back to the place, shall we. You all are in safe paws traveling with us".
After gaining their trust, they escorted the harem wagon back to the Fennic Royal Palace.
Out of respect for it's occupants, the harem wagon was allowed proceed partially ahead with general purpose chariots flanking by it's rear. Further behind were the battalion of those fearful war chariots to provide protection. And at the end were four prison wagons containing captured commanders of Shomari's army.
After hours of travelling at 7 mph, the Royal Palace was a quarter mile away.
Centurion Cyrus Hyena informed the girls, "Our cornicians (horn blowers) are going to play a marching song to herald our arrival".
"Oh that would be nice of you", Esther agreed.
"How sweet", Naunet also agreed as Salena giggled.
The cornicians commenced to play Parade of the Charioteers;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S0T8X-DMg8
Everyone at the palace heard the music and cheered as the precession approached with the harem wagon partially in the lead. The glamorous sight of the approaching precession with the music was a feeling of euphoria for everyone. Even the wagon drivers were in high spirits.
Salena Polecat noticed a young hansom polecat lieutenant who was riding on a chariot beside the wagon. Salena flirted with him then blew him a kiss.
His chariot driver, a mongoose, told him, "I think she likes you, Sir".
"I see that", the officer acknowledged as he waved back to Salena.
Salena giggled.

Esther and her mother were so happy to be reunited.

After the precession arrived to the palace, Shomari was taken from the dungeon with lions holding him under control on steel chain tethers to within sight of the precession. That's when the four prison wagons, which looked like 19th century paddy wagons and drawn by two horses each, raced up from the rear of the stopped precession and stopped where Shomari can see them. Shomari recognized his commanders and spies behind the bars of the windows of the wagons.
The high ranking Centurion in charge of the whole campaign, a lion, told Shomari, "See those wagons? That's all that's left to your army now".
The once mighty warlord and conqueror, Shomari, collapsed into a mental meltdown. Then Shomari himself was placed aboard one of the prison wagons bound for the Taruki Kingdom.

Are they sure they can trust the second servant?  She seems to be paying an awful lot of attention in the last panel there.
