Panel 48: Val and her siblings watching black coated Gendarmes march by. The Gendarmes have silver dragoon helmets on with flowing black hair. They have pacicarbines over their shoulders.Vasha watches from a swing tied to a tree branch while Val and Vabe look on. The cubbos are in the backyard of their home. There is no fence.

Panel 49: Leika and Zyn arguing. Zyn pointing at the tv as a news report says “Rebels on the back foot.” Another caption reads: “Green Bandana Rebellion: Gendarmes and Guard crush large rebel force at Battle of Voombs” A smaller caption reads: “Entire village soul drained by demons.” A smarmy looking chipmunk news reporter is on the TV looking happy with the misfortune of the Rebels. Leika is pleading with Zyn with tears in her eyes. She doesn’t want them to leave. Zyn is pointing at their chest with their hands as they yell back at her, a green bandana tied around their neck. Val is eavesdropping on the fight from behind a wall, her eyes streaming with tears.
Caption: I think I knew that Nony was sympathetic with the rebels, but they absolutely never took any direct action to support them.
Leika: You can’t leave us! Not now!
Zyn: How could I look at myself in the mirror, Leika?! How?!
