asked Blubby: "what was the closest you came to drowning"
"It's not really something I like talking about, but I'll tell you. A few years ago, a friend of mine let me hang out in their pool, and there wasn't a shallow end, but they said I'd be able to climb out with the ladder. Except I couldn't, it didn't go far enough down. I was trapped down there, and I had to just hope like hell that they'd check on me in time, which they almost didn't; I was nearly at my limit by the time they noticed I was stuck on the bottom, actually getting to the point where I was considering just giving up. I hate it, but this is the kind of thing that comes with not being able to swim."

S: out to rest after a long day, a latios flies in and lounges on a chair by a swimming pool, putting his hands behind his head and just peacefully chilling on a sunny day
L: Nearby in the pool, bubbles are popping sporadically on the water's surface, indicating someone's down below somewhere.
S: the latios couldn't help but notice the bubbling, it was pretty frantic as well, he decides to see what's going on and flies over the pool, squinting his eyes to try and see what's down there
L: He can just barely make out that there's a dragon down there, and they seem to be struggling, trying to get to the surface but unable to!
S: the latios eyes go wide "Oh no! That doesn't look good!" having no time to waste, the latios gasps a deep breath and holds it before plunging underwater, his eyes immediately stung by the water so he had to squint them as he hurries down to the bottom to save the dragon
L: The dragon has a purple blush, and their horns are blue aside from their tips. He looks up at the latios desperately. "HBL-HBLELP! IBL'M GOBLNNA DRBLOWN!"
S: the latios' face grows worried for the dragon "D-doblnt wblorry! I'm gblonna hblelp yblou! Hanblg in thblere!" hoping the dragon is not too heavy, the latios settles onto the bottom and gestures for the dragon to get on him so he can lift him up to the surface
L: The dragon immediately jumps onto them and holds on, turning out to be a bit heavier than he looks. He presses his muzzle against the latios' back, trying not to lose more air as he shivers from how badly he needs to breathe.
S: the latios then hurriedly carries the dragon up towards the surface, thankfully he can handle the dragon's weight as he tries to go up as quick as possible... he pinches the dragon's nose shut for them and covers their mouth, hoping they will make it as it's a bit slow from the weight
L: There's constant whimpering from the dragon as he does everything he can to keep from breathing... And just as he rears his head back to gasp, the two reach the surface! The dragon takes a huge gasp that goes on for a couple seconds, before heavily panting and coughing a few times.
S: the latios gasps lightly for air and let's the dragon breathe as he carries them over to the side of the pool, lowering them down so they can catch their breath, his worried look relieving a bit
"Are you alright???"
L: The dragon lays down on the floor, repeatedly taking deep gasps. Oddly, the blue on his horns is gradually moving down toward the base of them. "I-I'm fine... W-way too close..."
S: the latios notices the horn change and gets a little confused but doesn't think much of it for now "Good thing I was here, otherwise you probably would have been done for..."
L: "I-I think you're right... Ugh, I hate not being able to swim sometimes..." The dragon gets up to sit as his breathing calms.
S: "Wait... you can't swim?! What the heck are you doing in a pool then?! Did you like fall in?"
L: "Oh, no, I still like being underwater! I can hold my breath a REALLY long time, so it doesn't usually matter that much. Except when I don't have a way out..."
S: "I see... well, be careful in the future alright? I'm not always around this pool to save you...by the way what's your name? I'm Latios"
L: "I'm Blubby. And yeah, I'm normally pretty careful, but my friend told me I'd be able to get out of there fine, so I didn't check."
S: "Hmm...well it's good to meet you Blubby, glad I was came here to relax, I've had a long day today so that's I came here, I was gonna go for a swim later but, heh... then this happened"
L: "Yeah, I'm not really in the mood for water right now because of that... But we can definitely just hang out for a while, if you want."
S: "Hmm, well I was gonna go in the water for a little bit, but we can just hang out in the shallow end if you want...we don't have to submerge or anything, you'll likely stay above the water even if you can't swim"

L: "That'll work for me, sure." Blubby heads for the shallow end of the pool and hops in, able to keep his head high enough it doesn't go underwater.
S: the latios gets into the shallow end as well, sitting down to relax as his body is easily able to stay above the surface
"So, blubby... that's quite an interesting name...I like it tho, hehe... what are some things you like to do for fun"
L: "Well, I typically like hanging out underwater... And I like blowing bubbles, too. Check this out!" Blubby takes a deep breath, then exhales, and when he does so, a large bubble inflates from his mouth!
S: "Huh?!?! Whoa that's really cool! I've never seen someone do that before! Awesome! That's a useful tool if someone needs to breathe while they are underwater"
L: "No idea how it works, and I think it's unique to me. But yeah, it's pretty helpful underwater, I can just give someone my air with those!"
S: "That's very cool, I've got something a bit unique myself, I'll go ahead and show you" the latios heads overs and dives underwater in the deep end, then he jumps out of the water like a real dolphin and flips into the air skillfully before gracefully diving back under, swimming back and surfacing near blubby before sitting down next to him "Well?"
L: "Haha, that's cool too! Must have taken you a while to get that down!"
S: "Yeah, it took me some practice to get down, but I eventually did...it's neat that I managed it" the latios giggles "So how long can you hold your breath then?"
L: "Well, thanks to my lungs apparently being way bigger on the inside... 6 hours!"
S: that made the latios' mouth drop open
"6 hours?! Are you serious?! How did you end up almost drowning if you have a time like that???"
L: "Like I said, just couldn't climb out. This part kind of just drops off into the deep end, I can't get back up that way on my own."
S: "Guess that's true, I'm sorry about that... just glad I could get you outta there, and I know what's it like since I've been in peril underwater before too..."
L: "If you're alright with talking about that time, what was it like?"
S: the latios sighs "Well, I was just having a good time in the ocean underwater, practicing my breath holding which my record is currently half an hour... and then I wasn't paying attention and a huge boulder landed right on me! I was pinned in place deep underwater and I couldn't wiggle free..."
L: "Man, that's awful... It must have hurt a lot, too. How'd you manage to get out of it?"
S: "It did hurt... well, a dolphin pod noticed that I was in trouble, my face was already blue when they found me... and they worked together to get the boulder off me... it took a bit but they got me free, my face was purple and I just barely made it back to the surface alive... I was definitely pretty scared to go back underwater after that happened"
L: "I'm glad you eventually started feeling better about water again. It's at least cool you got to meet some dolphins, though!"
S: "Yeah, I do like dolphins...those little guys are very cute... and that's the only peril incident I've ever had, which happened about 3 months ago"
L: "Well, good that that's the only one. I've definitely been in trouble underwater a lot in my life..."
S: "Jeez that must suck... I'm sorry about that... but at least you still love the water and everything"
L: "Yep, I've never had one that's really majorly changed how I feel about water, even the worst one only made me nervous about it for a few days."
S: "Wow... well you definitely seem like a very nice guy, I hope we can be really good friends" the latios wraps an arm around blubby and smiles, just enjoying the peacefulness of the shallow end
L: "Yeah, of course! Maybe at some point we could go for a dive together? That'd certainly let you stay under longer than you ever have before!"
S: "I would love to go on a dive with you, gotta make sure I have goggles tho... I can't see that well underwater without them"
L: "That'll work for me, sure." Blubby heads for the shallow end of the pool and hops in, able to ke
L: "I've got some of my own I'd let you borrow. I don't actually need them, I just like wearing them and I think they look good on me."
S: "Oh, well that'll be great! I appreciate that, thank blubby"
L: "No problem! I bet we'll have a great time together!"
S: "Yeah! Definitely!"
for a while, the two rest together...even getting into a splash fight at one point with latios giggling cutely
L: Blubby is mindful to stay clear of the deep end during that, but still has fun splashing around with Latios.
S: the latios gives a yawn "Well, I was gonna take a quick nap in that chair over there when I first here, but I couldn't since I had to save you, think I'm gonna do that now..."
L: "I could kind of use a nap too, I've had a fairly busy day today... Well, there's that chair next to that one, so I'm gonna lay down on that for a while."
S: "Alright then, I've had a busy day myself... I've been all over the place, heh...I could use a rest" the latios lazily flies over and lays down on the chair and sighs happily "So comfy..."
L: Blubby heads over to the chair next to it and lays down as well. "These ARE pretty nice, yeah..."
S: "Mmhm...yeah, these chairs are great..." the latios moves his chair a little so he's more close to blubby, resting his head against them a bit before stretching
L: After a stretch of his own, Blubby rests his head against Latios as well, smiling at them.
S: the latios blushes a bit and smiles back, giving blubby a little pet along his body "Ahhh, this is nice..."
L: "Yeah, good way to relax after being stuck underwater for so long earlier..." Blubby closes his eyes, enjoying the petting.
S: "You definitely gave me a scare when I saw how purple you were down there... I was worried I wasn't gonna be able to get you out in time" the latios gently pets blubby's head and smiles "But I was happy i was able to get you out just in time"
L: "Really came close... But yeah, you happened to find me just in time, thanks again for that."
S: "No problem at all, I always enjoy helping others when they need it"
L: "Same here! Whenever I'm out in the ocean, I like giving the air-breathers down there some bubbles so they can stay under longer. Even though that kinda cuts down on how long I can stay there, heh."
S: "Hey, your doing it for the people and that's all that matters! I'm sure they appreciate your help!"
L: "Yep, think I've made quite a few friends doing that! Honestly, I feel like I'm getting kind of popular with sealife!"
S: "Hehe, I bet you are! I'm kind of jealous... maybe you should help me get popular with sealife myself!"
L: "I could give at shot at introducing you, sure. Haven't done that before, but maybe they'll like you!"
S: "Anything helps! I'm pretty friendly in general so I'm sure they will like me! Anyways, let's take that nap, I'm so tired" the latios yawns before hugging blubby and falling asleep mid hug
L: Blubby almost responds, but he notices how fast Latios fell asleep. Smiling at them, he hugs them back and closes his eyes, quickly falling asleep as well.
S: the latios smiles as they both sleep peacefully, happy that blubby turned out to be ok
L: "I've got some of my own I'd let you borrow. I don't actually need them, I just like wearing them
