Seems Gene and Tasli are on the roof of their apartment, watching the day close on the city. Ah, but Gene has spied something interesting in the sky. Let's see what it is...
GENE: "Look, Tasli! It's a UFO!"
TASLI (shining a flashlight skyward): "Let's say we let 'em know we're here!"
GENE (disturbed): "No, Tasli! We don't know if they're friendly!"
ZORTIAN2: "Yeah, we're so gonna, like, experiment on you an' stuff!"
TASLI (indignant): "We're minors, bruh!"
ZORTAIN2 (hastily retreating): "Whoa! Catch ya later, Earth dudes!"
ZORTIAN1: "In, like, ten years!"
GENE (angry): "They'll be back for us, Tasli, and it's all your fault!"
NARRATOR: "We end this comic with a .jpg of a can of Diet Sundrop. Why? Because references may stand in the place of jokes (just ask Hollywood)! Diet Sundop---it sure *did exist!"
*...Diet Sundrop apparently still does exist (I discovered it at the store the day after I drew this lol)
...Ok, that concluded oddly. Much like the popples before, Diet Sundrop has begun making appearances in some quickie comics. What will the end result be?
The UFO was supposed to look like one from Ed Emberley's Big Green Drawing Book, but I couldn't figure out how to make it look good from an angle ...well, the obvious solution would be to get someone else to draw it ...but, having a good drawing surrounded by my art would make mine look all the worse, so, I just drew a flying pie pan in its place (no one reading these expects quality anyways).
Pencil...
The featured pencil is the 'Alien' from Dixon Pencil Co. This pencil was VERY likely made in either the 1980s or (less likely) sometime in 1990. I base this on the packaging's mention of Newmarket Ontario: https://sta.sh/029nih64qco9 Dixon's Newmarket factory closed September 30, 1990 (thereby offering a good clue as to the vintage of the pencils). :3
"The Canadian Division of Dixon Ticonderoga Company came to Newmarket, Ontario in March 1931 from Jersey City, USA. We began manufacturing at 531 Davis Drive in the old William Cane Woodware Factory rebuilt after a fire destroyed it in 1886. By 1927 the company was manufacturing lead pencils exclusively and did so until Dixon Ticonderoga bought them out. Black lead pencils, coloured lead pencils and small size bridge pencils were first manufactured here. As Dixon had their own foundries and machine shops they built all of the machines for the manufacturing of pencils designed by Mr. Howard S Cane who remained with Dixon after he was bought out. Canada not only manufactured the famous Dixon Ticonderoga Pencil but also produced Lumber Crayons, Markers, Pens, High Heat Markers, Liquid Tape Eraser, Chalkboard Cleaners, Wax Crayons and Fluorescent Markers. We started in 1931 with 40 employees and continued manufacturing until September 1990; growing to employ 130 people. The last Ticonderoga Pencil rolled off the line on July 20, 1990. The factory was converted to a Medical Center currently named Dixon Medical Clinic and the original smoke stack is part of the building still"
I think Tasli needs to experiment on keeping his mouth shut. :3
Ten years from now they'll be back more advanced, and Gene and Tasli will be... well... still Gene and Tasli. Can't be minors forever boys... believe me... I think we've all tried lol.
Nice one. I think Tasli needs to experiment on keeping his mouth shut. :3 Ten years from now they'
