We often check in on our animals friends, sometimes even during their awkward moments ...but there are instances when our characters are either preoccupied or are too much in their own worlds to entertain us.
It happens. For example, it seems Parry the Popple has found a yellow tomato, and is more interested in it than in playing with us right now. Let's see!
PARRY (cheerful): "Oh, hi friends! I'd love to entertain, but I'm just here to puh-puh-pick this tomato!"
[Parry begins eating the fresh tomato]
PARRY (chewing): "We'll puh-puh-play after lunch, K?"
PARRY: "Tootles!"
[Parry winks out of sight ...because that's something Parry can do]
...I don't think he's coming back, but at least we've learned that popples will eat raw yellow tomatoes. :P
PENCIL...
The featured pencil is the 'Mephisto' from L&C Hardtmuth. Mephisto was some kind of evil entity from German mythology.
Anyway, this particular pencil is interesting because it was made in Austria. Austrian-made Hardtmuth pencils are among the harder ones to get.
That said, the 'Mephisto' line was supremely common---almost everyone who collects vintage pencils should have several variations (this isn't even the first time I've featured one)! :P
The featured specimen is a copying pencil. The marks made by these pencils could be transferred via some complicated (and potentially toxic) chemical process.

Let's see what Gene and Tasli are up to. Seems they're standing on the roof their apartment during a rainstorm, Let's see why...
GENESMOM (cross): "What are you boys doing out here in the rain!?"
GENE: "I bet Tasli I could stand in the rain longer than he can!"
TASLI: "And I was winning!"
GENESMOM: "I don't care who bet what! Get your tails inside right now!"
[Gene goes inside to dry off]
GENE (to reader): "Uh, there's nothing more to see. Tasli was sent home, and I have to go to my room after I dry off ...So see ya!"
At least we got to see the rubber duck again ...and, yes, I forgot to color Tasli's ears in panel 2 and had to fix them digitally. :P
Pencil...
The pencil featured here is the 'Pluvius' from L&C Hardtmuth. Pluvius was known by the Romans as the God of Rain. As a pencil, this American-made 'Pluvius' has a very thick core suitable for marking boxes, etc.

Ok, maybe the trailer wolves will provide us with a moment of fun? Seems the wolf mom is listening to the radio with the *twins. Let's watch!
*little known fact: the twins are named Alfie (red bather) and Brett (blue bather), respectively
RADIO (singing)/WOLFMOM (singing):
Go tell it on the mountain, O'er the hills and everywhere Go tell it on the mountain"
BRETT (singing): "Dat Gee'us Kite is Lawd!"
[wolf hug]
Aw! :')
Ok, so we should leave the wolves alone (for now).
The featured pencil is the 'Toison D'or' (Golden Fleece) by Bohemia Works. Bohemia Works is Koh-I-Noor ('Hardtmuth)') in disguise (so I haven't broken the pattern here)!
Bohemia Works is the label Koh-I-Noor put on pencils made for sale in regions where the name 'Koh-I-Noor' was registered to some other company.
This pencil is marked 'Czechoslovakia', suggesting this pencil was made before 1992, when Czechoslovakia divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia (respectively).
Koh-I-Noor had license to use the name 'Koh-I-Noor' in (what was) Czechoslovakia, so why was the pencil stamped 'Bohemia Works'?
...Do I really need to explain this? The 'Czechoslovakia' stamped on the pencil simply states where the pencil was made. Where a pencil is made and where a pencil is later sold bear little relation. :P
Yeah, there are a lot of different pencils that were made in Czechoslovakia and stamped 'Bohemia Works'. I personally have several specimens---there's nothing mysterious about it. :P If there's anything to wonder about here, it'd be the question of why couldn't the pencils be stamped 'Hardtmuth'? :O
Ah, the things those living in first-world countries find to rant about. :P
it is, but likely isnt going to happen this time dab, or ever for reasons already discussed. plus my own theory is that gene never gets spanked by his mom, that before he gets the first smack to his butt, his mom stops mid-air, as she cant go through with it. "i cant bring myself to cause my little boy pain, or to make him cry"

And unless Gene was standing in the rain, just standing in the rain, before Tasli started, Tasli is right, and Gene would not be standing in the rain longer than him.
Anyway - nice!
So that's what "squeaky clean" comes from... *squeak, squeak* :) And unless Gene was standing in t
Ah. Yeah, I wrote this yesterday; wasn't sure when I'd upload so I left the day blank. :P Sometimes, drawings are many days old before anyone sees them---I often need time to get over how bad the art is before I'm willing to post.
Indeed. :o
Only!
Oh my! D:

There was a US Supreme Court decision over whether tomatoes are legally fruit or vegetables (the decision was for the latter). Why did they hear it to begin with? It had to do with how they were taxed as commodities.

Parry eats and runs, the 'boys' get into trouble, and Wolfmom tends to her kits. Seems like a standard day for all. Life goes on :3
As stated above, it could be worse for Gene... ever get spanked while yer butt's wet? Can't say much about Tasli though. Hope Gene's mom just sent Tasli home and not call his mom to blab.
Really luv your 'split-screen' comic... best of all worlds!

Where I live it is usually somewhere between freezing and 20 degrees celcius at the most. Add wind and often weak sunshine (if any) to that and you get the picture. Also, rainshowers are generally light but last pretty long. At the end of autumn it might rain for days on end. Bah! :-)

Here we can get up to almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37 Degrees Celsius) during the summer months. But during the winter months, we usually average about 20-30 Degrees Fahrenheit (-1 Degrees Celsius). We get all 4 seasons, and it gets cold & snowy during the winter months here. I hate the cold season. But, it is what it is lol

Whatever, I don't know lmao. Where I live, there's a lot of forest & wildlife. Northern part of the US. If you wanna know precisely where, you'd have to PM me. Only again, because I don't wanna share publicly lol

Three for one! Love it! Very nice selection would very much like to see more like this cause I love all your characters especially certain butterflies who shall remain nameless at this time. ;D
Koi-I-Noor put out some good products and Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) put out some great artists supplies. Since Prismacolor discontinued their Color Stix*BOO* I've discovered some from the latter that work just as good if not better and will probably get a set in the near future. :) They're called Progresso and they are indeed Koi-I-Noor!
