First you must learn humility.

Then you can beat people over the head with a sword.

Humility is a hard lesson to learn, especially when you're cheeky! Xp

Slavery: giving "unpaid internship" a historical basis. Just 20, 30 more years to go, and maybe you'll earn a discount horse! The knighthood will come later than that.

Oh yeah, we don't like to use the term "Indentured Servant" anymore, we prefer "Enlisted".  XD

"After you've scrubbed all the floors in the kingdom, then we can talk about knighthood. Take em away!"

Part of military discipline is learning to keep everything clean your own self.
Mommy ain't here to clean up your messes any more.

It's a lot like how Cubbi thinks knights don't sew. XD

Or cook? Has he been shown how to wash all those soiled knightly undergarments yet?

There's no mention of any of that stuff anywhere in his story books! He checked!

Hee, hee, I do have a pic in mind where Cubbi's talking to Erik, they're cleaning something, and they talk about the story books not mentioning anything like this.  ^_^

I had to go look, but yes Cubbi and Erik already had a convo about the story-books not covering the actual long hard grind to Gummi warriorhood, much less knighthood.
That's why I recommended to do it again. It's a fanfic plot point that goes to TV canon (Cubbi and his story books, that is).

had something like this in my scapped work with Sunni.

she gets assigned cleaning duties along with grammie and hates it.
this leads to a long cyle of rebellion and minor punishment.
(she hates chores, runs off gets punished with more chores, repeat)

hee, hee, I can certainly see that. I'm sure you remember https://inkbunny.net/s/2601019 where Grammi has had enough of her lazy attitude. XD

did kind of wonder about her attitude, as it makes sense and not.

for when the show itself was relased, Sunni's attitue was the norm.

but.. neither Sunni nor Callas  fit the Setting.

its suppoed to be middle ages, neither their toboysishness nor their selfish rebliilious attitue would have been tolerated.
