"Just out of reach"
 
During a cave dive that had gone very wrong, leaving an adventurous diver hopelessly lost, a powerful current started pulling them down a tunnel. They fought against it, but could barely even slow down until they managed to get ahold of a stalagmite, just able to stop themselves. They quickly notice an air pocket above them, and it would certainly be more than welcome, as the lizard's cheeks had gone purple, but would they be able to reach it before just being dragged away from the air they so badly need?

*charmy the charmander was in the same area as this lizard when this happened, so she ended up getting dragged along for the ride too, her face red from the lack of air of her screaming out loud, when she sees the lizard she grabs hold of his tail*, trying to stop herself from getting dragged away any further*

"MM!" The lizard is quite surprised to see the charmander, though sad to see she's in the same situation as him. He keeps trying to figure out a way to assure he'll reach the air pocket, but nothing is coming to mind...

*charmy holds on for dear life to the lizard's tail, whimpering and straining as her air gets lower from the anxiety she's feeling over this whole situation, looking over at the lizard with a painful expression*

Looking back at Charmy as his face starts turning blue, the lizard has to at least try to get at the air. He starts working his feet closer and braces them against the tunnel's floor, then lets go of the stalagmite and pushes himself upward... And the current pulls him away from the air pocket! "NBLO!" He frantically tries to swim toward it, but there's nothing he can do now but let himself be pulled by the current.

*with that ditch effort to try and go to the surface, charmy was forced to be dragged along with the lizard, her face completely red now as she still holds on, both of them now getting dragged deeper into the unknown cave*

To make sure Charmy at least doesn't have as bad of a time, the lizard grabs her and hugs her so she at least won't be bouncing around on his tail.

The current lets up before too much longer, though the two are still in a tunnel with no air to be seen. The lizard is shivering from his desperate need to breathe, but starts swimming along the tunnel in the hope of finding air before he runs out of breath.

Almost unable to hold his breath any more, bubbles stream from the lizard's lips as his swimming becomes frantic. The tunnel opens up into a tall chamber... With a surface! The lizard's eyes go wide as he starts swimming up to it.

Surfacing just before he'd reach his limit, the lizard repeatedly gasps as he struggles to not go back under, his face starting to go back to its normal colors.

"I've never seen that before either! Maybe a section deeper in opened up and pulled in a lot of water, but I didn't see a path on the bottom of here... Not that I was looking since, you know, I was about to drown."

Before too long, Josh surfaces again. "I was right about there being another path! So, we've got two options now, back the way we came or down into a lower section. What do you think?" He climbs onto the raised section again.

In only about 20 seconds after first entering this lower area, the two divers feel a current forming... It quickly intensifies, and just moments later they're starting to be pulled along again!

This current goes on for about the same amount of time as the first one had, before thankfully stopping, leaving Josh and Charmy still in a tunnel system. Now that he's able to, Josh quickly swims to Charmy and hugs her.

The tunnel keeps going for another minute or so before it starts to curve up. While there's still no air in sight, this gives Josh some hope and he speeds up his swimming a bit.

Josh can hardly hold his breath any more, bubbles streaming from his lips even as he presses one hand against his mouth. The tunnel leads to another chamber, smaller than the last and without an air pocket... But with a large bubble rising up into a crack on the ceiling! A similar crack in the floor appears to have been its source, and Josh swims next to it, hoping another will form soon enough.

Intensely struggling to hold on, Josh almost doesn't notice a big bubble finally rise up. He grabs it and gasps it down without hesitating, his blush going back to red... Then realizes Charmy likely won't last until another forms, looking at her in concern.

After a little bit, another big bubble forms. This time when Josh grabs it, he pulls on both sides of it to split it in half, and gives one of the new smaller bubbles to Charmy while inhaling the one he's got, pretty much fully recovering his breath.

Sure enough, there's a way out of the cave here, needing a bit of simple climbing to be reached, which Josh happily does. "M-man, finally!" He drapes his tail down for Charmy to grab so he can help her up.
