Ohhh, interesting, what will Leo do? *Grabs Popcorn and enjoy the scene.*
So, their first quest is actually a team building quest. I wonder, what kind of challenge will be necessary to force such an illustrious group to collaborate.

At one point he wanted to be one so very much. Maybe he still does. But he's so twisted up right now inside with anger and pain maybe he's not sure what he wants right now. Oo.

I think the Tree more than anything gets a royal bitch card here, for multiple reasons really. 1st she is heavily at fault for the situation Nigel is in at this very moment, had she ever once had the decency to explain literally ANYTHING then this could have been avoided. 2nd she has only ever antagonized Nigel with half-assed vague remarks. 3rd Literally blinded the dude and LEFT him that way even though he is supposedly needed for this big vague not at all explained mission! 4th She never thought to reign in Leo's attitude, she rejected Nigel who at the time was more level headed and grounded but out right allowed Leo to continue to be obstinate and unchangingly rage filled imbecile . 5th If she had taken Tristan with her when they first met he could have already been training with the guardians, leaving him was utterly pointless.

maybe its something to do with doing the opposite of what she usually does: training and guiding her knights/guardians from the start with a rigid set of believes they received from birth . the taint of chaos might make the guardians question the path they were given in life by the Tree. Maybe by having them being in general broken and *choosing* that path by themselves after a Hero's journey the taint of chaos wont work on them

That I can't say for sure, but I would question whether her actions don't actually put them in greater risk of betrayal. I can imagine Nigel jumping at the chance to get back at everyone AND regain his sight which would be within chaos's capabilities.

Most likely a team building exercise for them to hopefully understand one another or at least come to terms with what roles they'll take on in the coming future.
The Tree is vague because if she directs them too much they'll never be able to think for themselves and trust in their own abilities to make decisions for the harder trials they will inevitably encounter. She can't protect them, so they gonna need to be self sufficient.

I would suspect the whole mission is actually a plan that Tree of Life dreamed up to get rid of undesirables.
Who knows?...That package they are suppose to deliver to a queen, and they were told not to look inside, might contain a threat or an insult to anger the queen at them.

Ok, Leo. kind of a dick. Nigel, I kind of understand insulting, but what did Tristan ever do to you?! Also. yep, Chili is now the best in this series, and second best overall. :)

To whiteblur: You get the village idiot card for everything you listed. Luna isn't going to force Tristan or Nigel down the right path, they have to choose on their own free will to improve. Nigel being blind will eventually be useful later down the line.
