Tails awoke one morning, getting an idea. "Morning, Sonic." Tails spoke to no one. "Huh?" Tails looked around, but Sonic was no where to be seen. Tails smelled a very familiar scent. "Him and his chili dogs." Tails walked downstairs.
"Morning, buddy." Sonic placed a finished chili dog on a plate.
"Thanks." Tails started to eat.
"So." Sonic said between bites. "Would you like to do something fun today?"
"What did you have in mind? A run or flight?"
"I was thinking something more... sporty. Just you and me."
Tails blushed "I would like that. More than anything. What sport?"
"Bowling." Sonic clarified
Tails eyes widened. "We've never gone bowling!"
"Exactly what I was thinking. So what say you?"
"Absolutely! I've always wanted to try it. Plus there's an arcade there, and they sell pizza."
"How do you know if you've never gone?"
"I've done research, seen pictures."
"Now I want to go even more! Hurry up and finish."
Tails was wiping his mouth, having finished. "You were saying?"
"Hah. I thought I was fast." Sonic bolted down the rest of his food. "Let's go!"
"May I... ride on you?"
"Sure!"
Tails blushed as he climbed onto Sonic's shoulders. "Let's go!"
Sonic ran fast as Tails directed the way. Tails cuddled and purred. When they arrived, Tails climbed down. "That was awesome, buddy!" Sonic hugged Tails happily as Tails blushed. Inside, they timidly rented shoes and chose a lane.
"ehh... It's so strange having to wear different shoes." Sonic stated uncomfortably.
"Meh. We'll get accustomed to them. You go first, Sonic."
Sonic rolled the first ball, it was a gutter ball. "Little out of practice" He stated. He rolled the second ball, and knocked down half the pins. "Okay. Not bad. Your turn buddy." Sonic hugged Tails as they crossed paths.
"Okay..." Tails looked at the pin setup, making calculations in his head. Sonic knocked on it.
"Don't think about it too much. Just bowl. Besides, it's not a competition." he rubbed Tails head. Tails nodded, and rolled the ball. Two pins. "Pffft." Tails chortled.
"Hey, at least you hit the pins." Sonic laughed.
"That I did. Ball two." Tails stated. He rolled it, six more pins down. "Geez. This is harder than I thought." Tails returned to Sonic, looking disappointed.
"That was just the first frame. We have nine more to go." Sonic reassured.
Frame five. Sonic rolled, knocked down five pins. "Half down, half to go." he stated. Sonic rolled the second ball, and he got a spare! "Woohoo! Spare!" Sonic celebrated.
"You're getting better!" Tails gave him a high five, and Sonic returned it.
"My turn!" Tails picked up a ball and rolled it. "Nice. Five down." He rolled the second. "Spare! Woo!" He celebrated, giving Sonic a high five.
The final frame. "See if we can get a strike!" Sonic said, letting Tails go first.
"Okay..." Tails focused, calming himself. He rolled the ball. CRASH! He covered his ears from the sudden sound, but saw that he got a strike! He jumped up and down in celebration, hugging Sonic. "I DID IT! I DID IT! Hahahaha!"
"Well done, buddy!" Sonic tried to hold in his excitement as he was up next. The pins reset, and a display said "Last ball." Sonic gulped, exhaled deeply, and focused. He rolled the ball. CRASH! A strike! Sonic couldn't hold in his excitement. He picked up Tails in an embrace and twirled him around happily. "WE BOTH DID IT!" Sonic celebrated.
"We're a good team! hahahaha!" Tails giggled as Sonic twirled him around. Once he put him down, they sat down, exhausted from the celebrating.
"Good game, buddy." Sonic held Tails' hand.
"I had a lot of fun with you today. I... I love you." Tails blushed as he admitted his feelings.
"Ha. There it is!" Sonic smiled.
"There what is?"
"I knew you had feelings for me, bud. I just wanted to find a nice outlet for you to tell it. And here we are."
"Wow! ... You're so much cooler than I thought Sonic." Tails said breathlessly.
"I love you too, Tails." Sonic kissed Tails passionately.
