I find it awful that they never seemed to have blamed Nigel’s parents for turning Nigel into a homeless troublemaker.
I still hope Nigel has the best ending, and his parents end up suffering for what happened to him. And I hope Toby has a chance to talk to Nigel, even if Nigel doesn’t want to talk to him.

I wonder if perhaps Nigel's rage against the tree will be what saves him from Chaos. Like Chaos will try to infect him and it'll just turn out to do absolutely nothing because he's not some indoctrinated little sheep to the tree. Maybe it'll even turn out that he'll go join Chaos out of spite and then switch back when it turns out Chaos is more horrible than he expected.
