Ajax was sitting on his bed with his messages open, thinking about what to say to Beau. He was extremely nervous and had no idea what he was doing. He had always been confident with things, but something about Beau intimidated him, even though Beau was sweet and sensitive. “God, who am I kidding? He’d never go for me. That stupid bitch has him wrapped around her finger.” He thought, putting his phone away. He sighed loudly, held his pillow over his face, and screamed as loud as he could. Kira heard the muffled yelling from the hall and decided to check on her brother. “Hey, dude. What’s wrong? Why are you yelling into your pillow?” She asked, leaning on the doorframe. Ajax sat up and took a deep breath. “Umm… Beau Troubles- I mean Beau Troubles. BOY Troubles.” Ajax said, clutching his pillow. “I’m having Boy Troubles.” Kira couldn’t help but smile at how Ajax was fumbling over his words. “Beau Troubles? Boy Troubles? Which is it?” She asked, trying to keep a straight face. “Ugh, both,” Ajax said, flopping down on his bed. Kira came in and sat down. “I see. You have a crush, don’t you?” She said, smiling. “Ugh, yes. But he has a girlfriend, and while he’s one of the best people I know, she’s the worst. She’s toxic, manipulative, and annoying, and she constantly threatens to harm herself if she doesn’t get what she wants.” Ajax said angrily. “Who is she?” Kira asked. “She’s a Smoochum named Norah. Bleh,” Aja said, sticking his tongue out as if he was gagging. Kira almost burst out laughing. “Damn, you must really hate her,” Kira said. Ajax looked at her with an irritated face. “Yeah, she’s a fucking bitch. She threaten to kill herself if he rejected her, and now it’s ‘if you ever leave me, I’ll kill myself and leave a note saying it’s your fault’. GOD, THAT BITCH GETS ON MY NERVES!!” He yelled. “Woah, woah, calm down, lil bro. You wanna stalk them and possibly mess with her?” Kira said, winking. “Hell yeah. That sounds like fun.” Ajax said, jumping up. So Kira and Ajax got in Kira’s car and headed off to a place Ajax knew Norah would always drag Beau. On the way, Ajax realized something. “Wait, don’t you have a girlfriend?” He said. “Yep. Why?” She said. “How did you meet her? And how did you start dating?” He asked. “Oh, boy. That’s a long story. Are you sure you want me to tell you?” Kira asked. “Yes, tell me everything. Maybe it’ll help me build up the courage to talk to Beau again.” Ajax said. “Alright, little man.” She said, smiling.
A few months ago, Kira was at a coffee shop early in the morning, so no one else was there, except for the workers and a few other people. She was tapping the table with her paw to come up with a good drum beat for a new song while waiting for her order, and soon her number was called. She went up, got her cappuccino, paid, and left. She decided to take a walk in the park to give herself some thinking room. She was so distracted, she didn’t hear someone yell out, “Look out, coming in hot.” Just then, someone bumped into her, knocking her to the floor. Luckily, her cappuccino survived (Thank God). She looked up and saw a Shiny Furret picking herself up off the ground. She walked over, stuck her paw out, and said, “Sorry about that. You okay?” Kira grabbed her paw, which was extremely soft, and the Furret helped her up. “It’s a good thing I was riding my skateboard and not driving a car.” She giggled. “Y-yeah,” Kira said, stunned by Furret’s beauty. The Furret took her helmet off, revealing messy, uneven fur on her head. “My name is Patty. Patty Friedman.” The Furret said, holding her paw out. Kira shook her paw and smiled. “I’m Kira Callaway. Wow, your name is Patty and you look like a peppermint. That can’t be a coincidence,” Kira said. “Yep, I’m Peppermint Patty” Patty added. “Ahh, that’s so cute. Just like you,” Kira said, blushing. “Cute is an overstatement. But thanks,” Patty said. Kira then realized what she said, and blushed even harder. “Hey, so… you wanna… hang out… maybe?” Patty said, blushing a little bit. “Sure. What do you wanna do?” Kira asked. “How about we just sit down and talk? Is that okay?” Patty suggested. “Yeah, that sounds fun.” So the two girls sat down and talked for hours about hobbies and found out they had a lot in common. Patty was surprised to find that Kira had 8 siblings and that she was the drummer of a band. “What’s your band called?” Patty asked. “We don’t really have a name yet,” Kira said, scratching her head. They kept talking until Kira's phone started ringing. “One sec, it’s my twin brother.” She said.
“Hello?”
“Kira, where the heck are you?”
“Calm down, Jet. I’m just in the park, talking to someone.”
“You’ve been gone for a while, so I’m just making sure you’re okay.”
“Heh, I’m great right now. And don’t worry, I’ll call you when I’m headed home.”
“Okay, stay safe. I love you.”
“I love you, too, dude.”
Kira put her phone back in her pocket. “That was my brother. He was just checking on me.” Kira said. “That’s so sweet. He sounds like a cool person.” Patty said. “Yeah, he’s one of my best friends. He’s the first one I came out to.” Kira said. “Came out?” Patty said. “Yeah, as a Lesbian. That doesn’t bother you, does it?” Kira asked. “Absolutely not. The funny thing is I’m a Lesbian, too.” Patty said, smiling wide. “Oh shit, really?” Kira said. “Yeah.” “Well then… Would you like to… go on a date sometime?” Kira asked. Patty’s checks turned red. “A-A date? Y-yeah, I’d love to.” Patty said.
“What happened next?” Ajax asked. “The date was a blast. We went to a concert and it was awesome. We declared our love and kissed. It was the best day of my life.” Kira said, blushing. “So you were honest with her and didn’t let your nerves get in the way?” Ajax said. “Yep. Be direct and sweet. I believe as soon as this ‘Norah’ chick is out of the picture, you’ll have a great chance with Beau,” Kira said. “Really? You think so?” Ajax said with a feeble smile. “Hell yeah. Oh, here we are. Oh crap, I see him.” Kira said, pulling into the parking lot. Ajax jumped up. “There he is. *gasp* And he’s alone.” He said, his tail wagging. “This is your chance. Go talk to him.” Kira said. “I-I can’t. I’m too nervous right now. Ugh, I wish I could just… man the fuck up and tell him like you did.” Ajax said, tearing up. Kira felt bad for him and then got an idea. “Well, should we at least offer him a ride?” She said. “I want to, but I doubt he’d say yes,” “Only one way to find out,” Kira said, smirking. Ajax sighed, got out of the car, and walked up to Beau, who was sitting on a bench with tears in his eyes. “Hey, Beau. What’s wrong?” He asked. Beau quickly looked up and wiped the tears off his face. "Shoot. Uh... hey, Ajax. What're you doing here?" Beau asked, trying to hide his heartbreak. "Well, I should ask you the same. I mean, I know you often come here with Norah. I'm just checking the scenery out a bit. Ajax sat down next to him. "I'm glad you're here. I just... you're a really good friend." Beau said, wiping his eyes. "Thanks. I try to be." Ajax said, smiling. Kira watched a bit, curious a to what was happening. "Hmm... he's got this." She said, smirking. "So... speaking of Norah, I noticed she's not around. Where did she go?" Ajax asked. "I don't know." Beau said. "And I don't care. She can burn in hell for all I care." Ajax was surprised. He always knew Beau as a sweet guy, so to hear him saying something like that was shocking. "What? What do you mean?" "Exactly what I said. A skank like her deserve to rot. You always told me she was no good, but now... now I wish I had just listened. It would've been so much easier when she..." Beau sighed. "So... she left you?" Ajax asked.
“Yeah, she did. I’m all alone now. She said she’d lose her mind if I ever left her, but then she just loses interest in me. No, she just decides I’m no fun to play with anymore. I… I loved her.” Beau whimpered. “Well, she didn’t love you.” Ajax snapped. “What?” Beau said. “She didn’t love you. She just wanted to use you. But I DO love you.” Ajax said. Beau wiped the tears off his face again. “You… You do?” He said, smiling. “Of course. I always have. I always hated her because of how she treated you. She’s too much of a self-centered, narcissistic, egotistical, in-over-her-head, blind, idiotic, childish, toxic, manipulative, annoying bitch.” Ajax said. “Wow, I can’t help but admire how you’re willing to speak up for others and don’t take stuff lying down. You’re really brave, Ajax.” Beau said, blushing. Ajax then remembered what Kira said. “Yeah. Hey, if you want, I’d be willing to take you out somewhere to help you get over her.” Ajax said, smiling. “I… I’d like that. Thank you.” Beau blushed even harder. “Do you want a ride? It’s getting dark and I don’t want to just leave you here. I’ll worry about you.” Ajax said. “You worry about me?” Beau said. He thought for a second and nodded. “Okay, I accept your invitation. Thank you, Ajax.” Ajax and Beau hugged for a second. “Fuck yeah. I knew you do it, Ajax,” Kira said, feeling proud of her little brother. Ajax and Beau walked to the car and got in the backseat. Beau told Kira where he lived and she set off to take him home. The whole ride, Beau and Ajax talked to each other about random stuff and bonded. Soon, they arrived at Beau’s home and he thanked them one last time before heading inside. “What happened to you being too nervous?” Kira said. “When he told me that Norah told him that she was just using him, I got mad and started talking shit about her. I guess he liked the fact that I was honest. And I asked him out on a date.” Ajax said, feeling proud of himself. “Kick ass. I knew you could do it.” Kira said, giving him a High-Five.
