Willy DuWitt is a very lucky human boy. In his own world, he's ignored by his well-meaning but ignorant parents and either bullied by his fellow students at school, or taken advantage of by them to pick his brain to cheat on tests, with only one actual friend, and even she thinks he's kind of odd. But he's content, because he can escape from it all into a fantastical neon sci-fi alternate reality populated solely by anthropomorphic animals, the Aniverse. Here, he's not just some unpopular dweeb or a disappointing son. He's a crucial member of Captain Bucky O'Hare's crew, the chief engineer for the good ship Righteous Indignation!
Here, he matters.
And here, where he least expected it, he finds... love? Yes, it seems so. One day, Willy had gotten into some trouble with some bullies at school and expressed his general dissatisfaction with the human world to Bucky. He told the green hare captain that he preferred the Aniverse and its denizens... budding furry that he so obviously is. Seriously, the kid was a kind of weird proto-furry. He also let it slip that he liked Bucky's company in particular... having remembered the way Bucky hugged him after they triumphed over the toads and saved Genus, making the boy blush hotly, more than when Bucky's first mate Jenny did. He didn't tell this to Bucky, or that he'd begun admiring the Captain's tight jodhpurs and form-fitting S.P.A.C.E. uniform.
He didn't need to. Bucky was perfectly capable of figuring that out for himself.
One night - or at least during whatever passes for night in outer space - while the rest of the crew was asleep, Bucky was alone on the bridge, flying the ship and monitoring for activity. Willy came up, having picked this moment to pay the Aniverse a visit. Bucky, confident, asked the boy to come and have seat in the co-pilot's chair (normally reserved for Jenny) and have a talk with him. Bucky began making it plain to Willy that he knew the human boy was attracted to him, having noticed the way Willy looked at him... and he made it even plainer that the feeling was mutual. Willy wasn't an Aniversian. He was totally alien to Bucky, but this made him exotic to the green hare, and he found himself day by day more and more attracted to the blonde-haired schoolboy who stood a full foot taller than him despite his age.
It was long before Willy slid over into Bucky's lap, and their discussion became more intimate as they held one another closely in the darkened control room, all by themselves as their shipmates slept. Soon, they'd do more than just talk, but one thing at a time...
Thanks, if there is one. This might be as far as I'm willing to go with this pairing for now. Although given the mostly positive reaction this pic has gotten here and on y!Gallery, I'm unsure too many people would have a problem with more explicit Bucky/Willy lovin'.
