WATCHER (RE: art I didn't make): "this was the best art I've seen of you, congratulations bro"
MARTEN: "That WOULD hurt, save I know my art is shit (but thank you for agreeing with me, even if you didn't mean to). ...but just so you know, I didn't paint this: someone named Jaime did. :3"
So, yeah, instead of pencils I should have done what a not insignificant number of my watchers do: just buy/commission art to upload. ^^
..I consider that one of my better drawings that was NOT referenced (the subject is someone else's OC in an original pose for the character).
Yeah, I had to go all the way back to 2021 to find a quote-unquote 'good' ACEO from the Ferret gallery (but I digress). :p
So, to end my DA/FA/and IB career, I want to upload artwork that's objectively good. I'll never live long enough to produce such myself, so I've been browsing through eBay's offerings.
There's good stuff here (honestly, eBay has a better art gallery than DeviantArt has and, to a lesser extent, than FurAffinity): https://sta.sh/011fdgooy1gv
Yeah ...digressing and repeating myself here, but eBay is a better gallery than DeviantArt---almost no screenshots, no feet photos, no unfiltered porn, just honest-to-God artwork (most of which is wholesome per eBay's AUP ...an AUP most people honor because they want to make money and build a proper reputation again unlike on DeviantArt).
I want to bring some of this outsider art to my watchers, as my parting gift to everyone.
I've placed a high bid on it---I'm fairly sure I'll win it (but who knows?). ^^
That said, another thought occurred ...why give eBay my money when I have thousands of watchers (of who a fair number are fairly good artists)?
What I am TEMPTED to do (this is only a temptation---I dunno if I'll really act on it) is buy art from some select watchers to feature in my gallery. This would get expensive quick, but I need only 12 drawings (I'm not buying pencils anymore, so... gotta do something with my spare change). :3
The benefit of commissioning watchers is I'd get art of whatever subjects I want, AND it would benefit the furry community (specifically, my circle within it ...that means YOU, hypothetically).
A seller would need to be willing to make TRADITIONAL ACEO art (preferably of my OCs) and send it to me via snail mail. To do this, one will need an eBay account to sell the art to me (I will not buy without 'buyer protection', nor should one sell without it).
Just an idea I'm throwing out there (like most of my ideas, it'll probably come to nothing)---I can still buy from random artists on eBay (less likely to cause drama, albeit the art would be impersonal).
Just an idea ...but funny, in its way: the best art you'll see from me, would be made by someone else ...it's so true it's painful! XD
The vast majority of people don't have what it takes to be anything but mediocre at drawing. You should not even try to be a great artist unless you really want to work for it and accept what goes into such an effort. Even then it's unlikely you would be more than slightly above average and noticed by only a few. From what I have seen what most so called truly talented and famous people go through I am not sure you would even really want that. You seem to be insecure about yourself, better art isn't going to fix that, because it says nothing about who you really are as a person. Neither do the comments you get, they're are a reflection of the people who post them.

These are REAL sketches/paintings the same size as my character scribbles.
And, to me at least, they do not seem to be significantly different than your style (except the fox one, but the first two? Those look like they were drawn by you!). Just the medium - watercolors - makes the overall feel different.
Oh, my. And you even put the artist name in the submission name ("by Jaime" should be a big clue...)
And who said your art is shit? I disagree, but maybe I’m not the best person to say. My hand motors are defective so I can’t draw a picture worth ten words

It is kinda fascinating how you can find such amazing pieces of artwork on sites like eBay of all places lmao. This is something I also do, and have noticed! I'm glad I'm not the only one lmao. But I'll always say your artwork is always cute & amazingly done. Sometimes we can be our own worst critics. Sometimes, I think that about my artwork too. People tell me they love my work, but I always think my work could have turned out better. I don't know lol.
