I'm currently working on a cover for The Legend of Whomper issue 9. As per tradition, the cover will appear on the back of issue 8 to show what you can expect in the next adventure.

I struggled with this first concept all day yesterday and found myself frustrated with the results. You can't see it in this scan but there are tanuki in the cages in the back. I decided to start over and ended up with something that I think looks much better. I put the cage in the foreground this time and the komodo dragons in the back. I decided that tanuki would probably use paper lanterns for light although I assume they have good night vision.

Update: Did a lightbox trace to get this ready for ink. Shortened Tengoku's legs slightly. Changed the lantern to be more accurate to the real thing.

Update: Added the inked line art.

Update: added the finished color version with and without logos. Moved the finished version to the front.
