So brave! So strong! You can bet he wouldn't take any crap from Tasli! D:
...Well, then again, our wuff doesn't look very certain. The forest is a big, daunting place after all---many things there could eat him (but let's not be discouraging). ^^
HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "I demand to see what's behind the loin cloth!"
We're 20 days into the month of November ...so where's all my art of pilgrims, Native-Americans, turkeys, and the squirrels who saved Thanksgiving?
I dunno. ^^
It's not that I don't want to draw seasonal things---the heart is there, but the mind isn't. Fact is, I've not been productive with holiday art since Halloween 2020. I burned out on holiday art that year and never fully recovered---only managing a pawful of holiday sprinkles here and there.
I guess I feel I've become somehow 'obliged' to the holidays, like I have to make art for them. My mind doesn't like that, and will work to intercept any activity conducive to producing art (if I feel like I 'have to' draw something---I just won't, full stop ...it's one reason I don't do requests or commissions ...as well why I haven't written a review since 12/21/2021---I'd at some point said my next review would be of Dot and the Bunny ...I obliged myself to it, so my mind has shut it down).
Anyway, I've decided to TRY combating my mind by making some seasonal art this month---even if only two or three pieces. Unfortunately, I've chosen to do this NOW, at the ass-end of November. That means two things:
1. I'll have to scramble! D: 2. Thanksgiving ...which a quarter of my watchers don't relate to (it's an American holiday) and which is (by degrees) a holiday 'offensive' to everyone else. :p
Most Americans still celebrate Thanksgiving, albeit, they tend to suppress the mythologies upon which the holiday was supposedly based. What this means for me (a cartoonist whose interest is in TV characters) is a dearth of material to draw from (pun not intended ...though I could've rephrased it at any time and didn't ...so ...I dunno). ^^
Concisely, there's not a lot of Thanksgiving specials to pick from that I haven't already covered.
Ah, but I'm a pencil collector! Maybe my pencils can provide some inspiration? Let's see what pencil names I have in the 'November' box...
'Sioux' 'Teepee' 'Sundance', etc., etc... very cliche (what did you expect---most of these were made like decades and decades ago)! D:
HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "Say goodbye to your art accounts, Chippy, and enjoy cancellation! Thanksgiving will be the end of your stupid comics and awful One-Cent ACOs! MUHAHAHA!"
Who or what the heck do you think I'm going to draw, dude!? :P
I was thinking of Yakari (the animated version), or possibly Cholena from An American Tale 3 ...maybe Jeremy Squirrel (a redraw), and/or perhaps a character from Turkey Television (that sort of thing ...heck, today's ACO is 'that sort of thing', and I doubt anyone has a problem with it). :P
Additionally, I don't accept cancel culture, and there's nothing about me that CAN be cancelled! XD What's more significant is I don't subscribe to the politics connected with cancellation, so though one may say I'm cancelled, one cannot convince me of it---I would never 'agree' that I'm cancelled (so I can't 'be' cancelled). :3
I highly doubt, moreover, my galleries will be deleted simply because I drew a wolf with a feather on his head, or because I featured a pencil named 'Indian'. :p
Either way, unless the good Lord calls me home between now and then, I'm gonna draw some art to go with my 'November' pencils, and I'm not going to care what anyone thinks about it! :D Last, if you don't like me or my art, rest assured no one's keeping you here. :3
Pencil...
The featured pencil is the 'Tom-A-Hawk' by Eberhard Faber. Eberhard faber is a VERY collectable brand (perhaps second only to Eagle), and was the maker of the beloved Van Dyke line and the original Blackwing 602! :D
Eberhard's 'Tom-A-Hawk' line goes back pretty far. The oldest I've seen was made in the 1930s (as confirmed by its appearance in a vintage Eberhard Faber catalogue from that era). I had a chance to buy the aforementioned pencil (a round, 1195 model), but its asking price was slightly higher than I was willing to pay. *shrug*
MY featured 'Tom-A-Hawk' pencil (an 1175 model with a hex barrel) was made sometime around the 1970s or 80s (I cannot know for sure, though it's certainly late 20th-century), and was available in a variety of colors. :3
Though not as valuable as the 1930s model, this pencil presents better thanks to its eye-catching font and semi-gloss paint. :3
He IS a cute little wuff but what you SHOULD have drawn is a Hawk holding his tomahawk and introduce your new family member as "Thomas Allen Hawk or Tom A. Hawk!
Or if you REALLY want to be silly Tom. A Hawk. :D
Also was the Tom-A-Hawk pencil a promotion for something or just a brand name they were putting out at the time.

Well, it follows that someone called Knife would be sharp (pun-writing is for the clever), so I don't doubt it ...but then again, I wouldn't know the different between a new/original pun and an obscure old one. ^^
I can't remember if I mentioned the Eberhard Faber 'Pet' pencil to you or not, but I found one on eBay recently. The 'pet' was the chick. I placed a low bid---I found I really wasn't too interested. It sold to someone else for $36 (along with two other pencils of low interest).
Maybe next time (I'm hoping for the squirrel 'Pet' anyway).

On DA, there are 'loincloth' fan groups (they didn't add this one, though they did add the Teepee cartoon, oddly), some members of which would ask for NSFW art and/or for requests (no matter how bad one is at art, if a non-artist sees you draw something niche that they like, they will try their luck). So my little inclusion was a subtle hint that I'm not likely to give one what they want if what one wants doesn't appeal to me/is needlessly gratuitous. :3
