I love how pathetic and crushed Chucky turned out. In his defense though, and from experience, I can say that college delivers challenges most of us aren't ready for. In Chucky's case, as with a lot of his peers, he always got good grades as long as he studied. But when it comes to landing an airplane, that's something you just can't really study for.

Awwww don´t worry Chucky and Kyra not everytime you can pass a test at first time and it´s not bad because you will lern from every mistake you make and do it better next time. *smiles*

The problem with what they are doing is that, sometimes it's hard to know what the mistake actually is.

I also know his feelings very well on this one.  College throws you many a challenge, and there's often times when you definitely won't be prepared to handle something.  All you can do is your best.

Nice expressions in this one, my friend; thanks for another satisfying share.

You are very welcome.

Also, I like that title name.  There's a slight pun in there (to me, at least), about parenthood.  Becoming "a parent," that is.

I know that feeling all too well and it hurts. Of course no one is perfect and you are expected to fail at something at one point in your life and when you do it's one of the hardest things to accept.
Chucky
12 years, 3 months ago
Hopefully not accepted as the norm.

I like Kyra.  She's a sweetheart and a good friend.  And super cute, of course.  But that's not really relevant here.  X3

Cute otters are always relevant. ;)

Adam always gets the best lines. If this is ever animated, I'm auditioning for Adam.

Awww poor them. Heh, I'm sure they get better though. Though they are gonna have to get use to failing once in a while. Life has a that way of giving you a swift kick in the balls from time to time. Just to remind you your just a living being. ;3

It's a shock to the system at first, but a bit of a wake up call as well.

Amazing how RL learning tends to differ from paper/book learning especially for those that have never known how to fail.  *gives the two of them a hug and buys them icecream*.  Learn from your mistakes and keep going, kids.
Chucky
12 years, 3 months ago
Mmmm, ice cream. I wonder what kind of ice cream an otter would like.
MooseJam
12 years, 3 months ago
anything with the exception of fish/seafood and maybe a few odd ball flavors.   Basic vanilla and what kind of fruit flavors does she like would be a good place to start.
Chucky
12 years, 3 months ago
Maybe she likes sweet lobster gelato.
MooseJam

Hmmmmm...maybe.

Never tried that combo before.  Just trying to avoid the stereotype food association thing.

MooseJam

Don't it tho.  I would think they have a wider and more diverse palate than what they would be associated with.  Perhaps that kind of flavor would be one of her favorites.

Still you can't help but chuckle at how they handle failure after a long time of doing great at everything.

first thing I failed was my first exam in Food and Resource Economics. Lucky for me, the professor curved teh test 14 points. so I passed. :P I know the feeling. College is 50 times harder than high school.
Chucky
12 years, 3 months ago
I remember curved grading scales, they never made me feel any better about a low grade though.
KairoTheDragon
12 years, 3 months ago
yeah. I ended up with an B in the class but again he curved it so I got an A. :D I would have been pissed in high school if I had gotten a B but there have been classes that I was ECSTATIC to get a B in once I was in college. :D This year it's going to be either Soils or Dendrology

I know how he n Kyra feel/ I failed my check ride as well, and never got my license (ran out of $$). But, all he's got to do is buckle down, and he'll work out his difficulties and pass with flying colors! (pun intended!)
Chucky
12 years, 3 months ago
Aw dude, that's a bummer. So many people never get far in flying because of funds. It has become even more so now.
quasiskunk
12 years, 3 months ago
Very true. Flight schools' numbers are dwindling daily, and add in the insurance..and you have a BIG payout to get your ticket now.

Luckily, I'm still a fan on the ground, and when I do get to fly, I fly with eyes peering out the window :)

That's the way I was when I nearly failed my first Design courses in college. I was used to sailing through things in high school -- all of a sudden, I couldn't do anything right and was "the idiot" of the class. After a few days of feeling sorry for myself, I started really buckling down and realized how sloppy my work was. Before long I was doing great... but it never got easier :)

Great expressions and emotions on Chucky!

I say Chucky and Kyra should help each other relieve their frustrations, in a mutually beneficial way? ;P

I remember the first time i failed a flight lesson....i felt so bad >.< In chucky's defense though, my flight instructor wouldn't even let me land the plane myself until the third lesson or so >.>
Chucky
12 years, 3 months ago
Chucky is on lesson 8. That's the trouble with flying as a course instead of a progression. If its taught in a progressive manner, there is no passing or failing, you just pick up where you left off. It can be easier on the emotions, but less structured.
KNIFE

Aww..poor Chucky. But he'll get over it. If anything it should make
him want to work that much harder to pass next time.
Also I side with Octobot..this COULD lead to some..
mutual propping up of both Kyra and Chucky..together...
in one of their rooms.....for the evening. ;D

Boy Chucky would love that!

i think Kyra and Chucky should console each other the best way possible...starting with a nice cuddle, in bed and just letting them each make the other feel loved and appreciated. they are both in a unique position to understand EXACTLY how the other is feeling and instinctively knows what the other needs to make them feel better.

YES!
and i think they should, it could deepen their friendship without getting 'weird'
I for one would love to see how a situation like this would play out
food for thought, my Friend

In USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training you follow an exact syllabus. For example, before your first solo flight there are 3 blocks. Each block is made up of 4-6 daily rides. During each block, certain items are supposed to be up to a certain standard by the end of that block. If you fail a ride in the middle of  the block you simply move on to the next ride. Fail three daily rides in a row and you go to an 88 (You get one of these for each aircraft you fly in pilot training, once you've used it, it's gone). Fail that, and you go to an 89 ride (Fail it and you're out of pilot training). If at the end of the block not everything is up to standard, you get to try it again. If you don't pass that, then you go to an 88, or if you've already used your 88 ride, than you go to an 89. There are also checkrides (4 for the T-6, 3 for the T-1) and if you fail one of those you either go to an 88 or 89.

The result is that at any given time it can take only 2-3 failed flights for you to be booted from the program. I never failed a checkride (I think about 10% of us could say that), but I did hook (Air Force for fail, because your grade is U for unsatisfactory, which apparently looks like a hook) a few daily rides. Can't say I cried, but it sure as hell made the next ride more stressful! I never did end up using my 88- thank God!

Well, I know that situation.

Failed an audition for a talent night. Considering that I need performance experience, it hurt. Then failed my drivers test for my probationary license in the same week, for a stupid reason. I was gutted, and even now it hurts. I'm only just willing to admit I rebooked the test that night for another month away, but I'm afraid that I'm just going to keep failing.

If you want it badly, you just gotta keep trying.

Aww, poor Chuck! Looks like he still has some growing up to do, it does make his character appealing though... Looks like his confidence  could use some bolstering.. He DOES know how to have sex, he needs to find an outlet for that so he can show someone SOME proficiency!! Maybe a nice otter girl to cuddle with...

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I had to think about it and the full truth is I can't really relate to this. I was a B-C student my whole school life. Some A's here and there even with hard studying, but I was pretty average. Still I know the pain of working hard and falling short in the end.
