"There, all done!" Sunshine smiles and wipes the sweat from his brow as he finishes gently patting down the soil around the small plant he had just planted into his garden, completing and entire row of them that was marked and labeled to let him know what was planted where.
The hedgehog stands and surveys his work, taking in the results of his efforts. His grand garden was something that Sunshine took great pride in, maintaining such a large amount of plants and allowing them to thrive was fulfilling and relaxing to him. It made him feel at peace.
Sunshine takes a swig of water from the thermos bottle that was clipped to his jacket which he had tied around his waist by the sleeves before pouring some out onto his head to cool down and wash away some of the sweat and dirt that stuck to his fur and quills.
He shivers a bit as a chilly autumn breeze blows by, ruffling his jacket as he finishes picking apples from the small tree in the backyard of his family’s home. Seems like he’d have to prepare his garden to survive the winter sooner than he expected to or else some of the plants might not make it to see another spring once frost began to settle in.
His ears perk up and he turns around when he hears a soft rustling coming from the nearby tree line that encircled the back of the property, causing an unsettling chill to rush down his spine as if he were being watched. Normally such sounds were common to hear among the trees, but this time something felt…off.
{The Next Day}
“Are you sure you want this one?”
Sunshine chuckles softly when he sees Sol nodding enthusiastically, just like he had done with the last seven pumpkins they had found in the garden.
“Yeah! That one is perfect!” The child giggles as he hops up and down on the spot.
“That’s what you’ve said about every other pumpkin today” The father laughs and ruffles Sol’s quills “Your sister still needs to pick out her own pumpkin too”
“I know, dad. I’m really sure that I want this one!” Sol grins as he lifts the pumpkin with his psychokinesis, setting it aside on the back porch of their home “Can Molly and Ariel have pumpkins too? Or are they too little to make jack-o-lanterns?”
“They’re still too young, little spark. I did pick a couple of little white pumpkins for them to paint on though, they won’t be missing out on anything” Sunshine assures his son.
“Oh, okay!” Sol grins and takes his pumpkin inside to show his papa. Sunshine smiles as he watches his son retreat inside the house, his expression falling a bit as an unpleasant shiver runs down his spine again. Something was definitely watching him from somewhere just behind the tree line.
I decided not to completely restart everything from scratch, but make a few tweaks to some things instead. This is what I have so far but I might add more later on. If anyone has any suggestions of their own feel free to send an ask or DM my way!
Sol is now 8 years old not 4 years old
Molly and Ariel are now 4 years old not infants
The family now has a cat named Sophie (Don't worry, Luna and Ivory are still around!)
The family now resides in a small town within Diamond Dust Zone to be closer to Starlight's (
Crystalsofwonder's (A friend of mine from Tumblr) Maria is now the Maria of Sunshine's zone and is his older sister
Infinite has seemingly been destroyed during the events of his last encounter with Sunshine
Team Dark no longer work for G.U.N but are still in touch with each other outside of work
Sunshine regularly volunteers at a Chao and Wisp sanctuary alongside Cream
Rouge runs her nightclub Club Rouge with Omega helping out as a waiter/bouncer and Sunshine sometimes provides music with his piano
Mephiles is Sunshine's twin brother and Eclipse is their younger brother
Sunshine's favorite hobby is gardening instead of drawing, he still draws occasionally but gardening is now his favorite hobby to indulge in
Photography is another hobby that Sunshine enjoys, especially nature photos and unique architecture
Sunshine has become a proficient baker due to spending time with Vanilla and Cream and learning from them
Sunshine and Starlight are considering having another child now that their lives have become more peaceful (Not 100% sure on this one yet, depends on if I can revamp their youngest child in a way that I'm happy with)
