Every once in a while, I have to draw something that reminds people why they watch me ...but I didn't feel like drawing cfnm with Mimi and Gene, so everyone must settle for a scribble of Nugget and his mom instead. ^^
Nugget is one of the 'baby animals' that had to be rescued in 'Ferngully: the Last Rainforest 2' (FtLR2).
I drew Nugget once before, during that VERY brief phase in which I though it clever to draw characters on blue Post-It Notes. :P
This drawing shows Nugget after having just been reunited with his mom, near the end of the movie ...which makes this ACO a screenshot redraw. ^^
HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "That's what bad cartooners do, mhm!"
At least I drew it (and it isn't 1:1---I had to change the proportions and slightly re-pose the characters so they'd fit my card). Anyway, I've seen uploads that are literal screenshots, some still had their timestamps from YouTube visible. :p In fairness, I sought to draw Nugget in an original pose, but I paused on the hug scene and, well ...I said "That's my card!"
I also had to draw this trice before I deemed it acceptable for submission---the interaction of the two characters is a bit tricky, esp. with body types I'm not accustomed to (I don't draw many roos). Last, this drawing was drawn freeform---I did not use a circle stencil to draw the undersketch ...in fact, there is no undersketch: I 'just drew' this. :3
So... is FtLR2 a good movie?
My favorite memory of FtLR2 was of the first time I watched it. I was living in a rented apartment at the time and, one afternoon, found I had nothing better than to watch a movie on YT to occupy myself. For whatever reason, I chose FtLR2.
I sat through about half of the movie, paused the video, and walked to the gas station. I bought some jerky and something or other to drink. Walking back, I recall seeing the sky was orange (it was pretty). I returned to the movie, finished it, then did something else with what was rest of my day.
TL;DR: No (it isn't ...but I like Nugget). :3
Card was drawn via a 'Zephyr' pencil from Wallace Pencil Co., and delineated via a 'Millwood' pencil from Millington Lockwood, Inc.
This is the 'Tombow Recycled Pencil' of Tombow's 'Kimonogatari' series (whatever that is).
The pencil is described thus,
"Recycled pencil produced by joining wood offcuts using the finger joint technique. Feel the warmth of the tree every time you write with a pencil of the "Kimonogatari" series. The finger joint technique used to join wood offcuts has made it possible to reuse scrap wood. This recycled pencil was the first pencil to be certified by "Eco Mark" in 1992"
How nice. :3
I was going to feature an 'Eagle Recycled' or an 'Eco writer' from Eberhard Faber, but the former has been shown already in a Stash link, and I cannot recall if I've featured the latter or not (and I don't feel like riffling through all my horrible art to find out). ^^
I never watched any of the Furngully movie, might at some day just cause but in no hurry to do so. Still that IS a cute drawing and probably a better scene than any in the movie! :)
I LOVE Tombow pencils. I use them whenever I can and if they're natural wood like that one all the better. I just have a thing for natural wood drawing implements. :D
