I'm tired and (more importantly) have a 25oz can of Stella Artois waiting for me, so here's just a quick head-and-shoulder scribble of Foofur from ...'Foofur'. :p
'Foofur' was a series I remember seing on TV, but I have no other childhood memories of it ...so I'll let Wikipedia fill in the blanks,
"In the town of Willowby, a tall skinny blue bloodhound named Foofur has taken refuge in a mansion, in 32 Maple Street, which is also his birthplace. In Foofur's group is his niece Rocki, Fencer the Cat, a bulldog named Louis with his girlfriend, an Old English Sheepdog named Annabell, and a cocker spaniel named Hazel with her husband, a miniature schnauzer named Fritz-Carlos. Foofur and his friends, however, have an enemy in a woman named Mrs. Amelia Escrow and her pet Chihuahua named Pepe as Pepe tries to expose Foofur's illegal roommates – but always to no avail. Mrs. Escrow has tried many times to sell the estate, but unknown to her, Foofur and his friends keep the house from being bought, as they also protect their home from rodents like the Rat Brothers who tend to mess with Fencer, other cats like Vinnie and his Cat Pack, and greedy humans. While trying to stop Mrs. Escrow, Foofur tries to evade having his friends captured by the Bowser Busters' dog catchers Mel and Harvey. In addition, an Afghan Hound named Burt also antagonizes Foofur and competes with him to win the affection of a basset hound named Dolly"
Sometimes you gotta admire a work that you know was never brainstormed or workshopped. The unpolished and unpopufur. Doesn't always make it good, but definitely makes it unique.

I once used 'popufur' in a comment, trying to be funny ...and was genuinely chastised for the insult (I thought it was simply a furry spin on 'popular'). :P

I VAGELY remember Foofur but never saw a single episode ( that I remember). So many obscure cartoons / shows, so little time.
I love "This Old House" cause it's fun and fascinating to watch them take a rundown or damaged property and return it to not only livable but also in many cases a true work of art. Maybe not super splendid but totally more usefully designed than before. :) I also find it interesting that that pencil is the same color blue as the Dr. WHO's Tardus and it even has a small "Tardus" on the side! :D And those things are a BITCH to sharpen if your knife*wink* isn't sharp! O.o

It would be like sharpening one of the flat sketching pencils. I have had the lead break off on them so many times I just ended up using the broken piece to do my drawing.
Speaking of which, what is your criteria for defining a pencil. Does it have to LOOK like a pencil or can it be just a long stick of graphite with no wood shell like a sketching stick.

Oh, the 'What is a Pencil' question ...I'm shocked to read this question, here, Knife. A pencil is any tool that claims pencilness---it is not for me to decide what a pencil is. :3
