Going back to previous chapter, now I see that 300 years in the future, she sent the adapter back to Meiga, and now she returned it to herself.
All's clicking in places now. ^^

quite a difference older though I noticed. her older self's wings are on her back instead of being between her...fingers? dont know how else to describe proper bat wings. I notice because I always love proper bat wings. bats with 'normal' hands and wings on their backs are cheating! :D

Actually, her future self doesn't have any wings at all, she just transforms her arms back into wings when needed.

You know, that final panel on 3x30 sure seemed a heck of a lot more ominous at the time compared to what actually happened as a result.

Also, love Gascon's and Barbara's faces in panel four. Especially Gascon's.

If you take a look at the fifth panel, you will see Auntie Meiga left something to her student. Hint: Something produced from her tail as she die from magic drain in a few previous pages.

Edit: I guess she will use it to transform herself into a Sorcerine.

It would be a pretty slipshod setup if every new child required the Adaptor's services again. I have to believe that the gene modification for a couple is a one-and-done procedure; it's the only efficient option.

As for Auntie Meiga, she expended the last of her magic (and life force?) with that act, but it looks like her tailtip left a fruiting body for her apprentice to work with. Who knows if that would become a new Sorcerine in time, or just be a power boost for the future bat Adept?

I kind of thought Meiga was tapped out after that last spell. Sad to see her go but I get the feeling she knew this needed to happen. And I'm glad you won't leave us hanging on this. I first saw this page and was ready to say, "You yadda yadda'd the best part!" Though I'm a little worried that reference is dated at this point.

My theory is that sorcerines are ethnography scientists from the future, and at the "end of their life" they just come back to future with enough knowledge to write a book or several. And completely exhausted. So, they rest a bit, use modern miracle medicine and become good as new and write their books.
