the azulian will likely return in the right epoch in time, but seeing what remains now of tìa meiga's body, i fear she will pay with her life all the good she made for the taurescu couple and the fuencordera villagers; touching for someone so despised before.
oh, my solution of the little puzzle in the last page; florossa, queen of all witches, imbue this circle with your power! bring back what doesn't yet exist!

wait, have her genes even been altered? Magic was used to make her body look like that, but did it happen by...well use of analogy seems most efficient here, through "genetic" or "surgical" alteration?

Given how she was smaller when it first happened (as shown during the time he was gathering information) she grew up still in this form. The best analogy to what chaos magic did to her would be genetic manipulation instead of surgical alteration. Specifically, something analogous to surgical alteration wouldn't change her fertility.

Like MrSkies said, it's probably genetic. Life is a process, and on a cellular level the little bits of ourselves are constantly dying and being born. In order for that to work, they need to know what the next one should be, and so the genes must be there. Well, if she's alive as we know it, anyways.
Magic! If it happens for real, it's also still somewhat scientific.

That's right. As Arthur C. Clarke said, magic's just science that we don't understand yet. Spatz "magic" simply caused genetic mutations on his victims.

alright im probably way over thinking things but here are some things I've noticed. obviously the blue guy coming from the future (assumed) from the green bat https://inkbunny.net/s/2556024
next is the fact here it says that the offspring is compatible with anything either parent is able to breed with.
with that in mind I remembered this panel https://inkbunny.net/s/2271109 and what hit her. then I thought of this from the other "time line" or the future or whatever title we give it and thought of here https://www.furstreet.com/drjavi/mbk/002.htm was the same color as the vial thrown at her to begin with.
if we assume the green is what caused the alteration in the body maybe science figured out a way how to pull it out and use the "adaptability" so to speak that results.
after the change in his body his eyes and hand glow green like that vial https://www.furstreet.com/drjavi/mbk/008.htm then lets look at the "angry" form he takes https://inkbunny.net/s/2433413 it looks a little bit like her with the green that could be either from a certain green guy or from the vial ooze colorations.
honestly I'm probably overthinking it where either a certain shape shifter is a descendant or the green stuff in the tubes in that one page are somehow genetic stuff similar to that green goo in the vial thrown at our staring lady.
eh I'm rambling and will shut up now.

I hadn't really planned on a connection between Spatz's magic and bioenergy, since the latter isn't supposed to happen until Azulians teach humans about it. However, Barbara's curse is essentially a genetic mutation, so it isn't too far off either.

The Azulian adapter is so cute, polite, and informative!
I've been wondering for a while, though... Is it, are they, people? Like, I expect it was born or created in this form, but was it also born with the knowledge that it has? Did it recieve an education, or merely a data transfer? Does it have hopes and dreams and wishes, apart from its basic biological function? Can it change, the way people do, and want to be or do something else? If that is something that can happen, is it also able to change form to suit that?
I'm really curious about the Azulians in general, but the Adapter there is especially interesting. Though, I suppose I'm also interested in the furry folk of your world. Were there ever humans, in this world? Did I ask that before? Are the earth people, the furries there, all able to interbreed, or are there seperate species, of a sort?
There are so many furry 'earths', and sometimes folks just gloss over that stuff since it's not relevant to the story, but I'm always curious about that sort of worldbuilding stuff. Sometimes there were humans, and they became furries. Sometimes, there were only ever furries, but they're all one people, just look very different. Sometimes they're each seperate species, all living in the same world, rarely producing fertile parings, but that's pretty rare on a furry Earth.
It's also worth considering how crossbreeds work. If you've got furries who can pass down traits of both parents base species to the child, gradually you'd end up with nothing like normal animals at all, and likely some sort of much more similar group with elements of all of them. Otherwise, you have to consider how it might work differently. When I do furries that are able to interbreed as a single people with different shapes, I usually have the kids each take after one or the other parent for the major features, while minor features could be attributed from either.
Of course, the matter of "Do they all do live birth or do they lay eggs sometimes?" hasn't really come up much.
The other issue of where all of these vastly different looking 'breeds' of people came from, and asking if regular animals can do that interspecies thing too, is generally glossed over, but probably the answer is something like "Magic!", or you have a scenario other than Furry Earth, and can make up whatever is neccesary.

Azulians are indeed "people". They were (allegedly) created by a greater being in order to bring peace and unity to all intelligent species in the universe. They do have feelings and desires, although they are all very selfless. They are a hive mind species, so they pretty much know everything all other Azulians know since shortly after they're born. Changing shapes is absolutely part of their very being, since they have to adapt to different civilizations, including looking nice for their hosts. Depending on who they talk to, they could even look like this:
Regarding furries and reproduction, I intentionally left that unexplained this time. In the previous iteration of my comic, furries were an artificial evolution of humans, but keeping it logical became a mess. So the official explanation now is that animals are more fun to draw than humans. To keep things simple, their offspring will always take the species of one of the parents, while mixing and matching other attributes, such as color and body type. And yes, some do lay eggs, because that's funny.

I'm really interested in that sort of extremely non-human existance. Being created with intention, for a purpose, rather than being a result of the process of evolution, or based on an already existing creature.
I'm really into artificial intelligence, and one of the things I've had trouble with conceptually is how to make an artificial being have a reason to do anything, along with something like a desire to.
I have said many times that there is a point where the complexity of a task becomes so great that if you were to create a machine to do it, that machine would be a person. Some folks find the idea of creating people designed for a task, and then giving them an innate desire to do it and a natural sense of fulfillment from doing it, to be unethical. I'm not really sure, though. Because of that, I love to see writers and other artists explore the concept!
Also, the way you designed their forms for life on Earth, I'd say they do look very nice. The big doll eyes and perpetual smile are great. They're still very expressive, even when being serious and empathetic, like the Adapter is on this page.
Regarding the furries, you probably took the better choice. Going too deep in can really complicate things. You wanted it to be Earth, but you wanted furries instead of Humans, so you did it, even though it would surely fall apart under scrutiny. Even making an alien world with furries, why would they be based on Earth animals? So many problems.
I'd love to tell you about my own trouble with creating alien visitors, only to realize they were still too dependant on human culture and Earth's evolution history and species in their design, if you're interested.

I think that would be the Talos Principle: if a machine is as smart as a human, is it a human? If not, how do we define humanity? If you like AI stories, you'll enjoy a few of the next chapters of my comic, because I've planned a few stories that discuss that.
I think the trick with alien design is to remember that, while we can accept that a species that can interact with Earthlings probably has a few common traits, there is no limit to how different they can be, to the point where basic anatomical and physical laws we take for granted maybe don't apply anymore. I'd love to hear about your designs. :)
