Avril was a character I made intended as a one-off in my comic series "Date Mouse Misadventures", about my fursona trying and failing to find a mate. The concept behind Avril was that she would be otherwise perfect for me, but was near death of mysterious circumstances. I came to really like the character and kept her around after that, and figured if I was ever in a relationship with a girlfriend who liked the character as well we'd fix her problem and either reverse the damage with magical healing or use technology to give her prosthetic replacements.
The prosthetics just look so cool now that I draw them for the first time. Her old bones were left in place to serve as the main support structures, then all the little mechanisms and wires were run through everything to make it actually able to move and feel, then the entire structure is protected by a rubbery gel substance similar to silicone. She still wears her signature boots even when otherwise naked to prevent the soles of her feet from being worn down by floor surfaces.
Proto the Protogen is a wholly synthetic lifeform built and programmed by my girlfriend Bella, so he's made of the same kinds of materials as Avril's lower half. Avril opted not to have synthetic fur layered over her implants, figuring that for most occasions her blue jeans would be sufficient cover and when not, would rather be more transparent about what's artificial.
