Minkshake was a character that appeared in the twilight of an abusive relationship. She started showing up in my dreams, giving me support, affection, and validation. I wasn't completely sure what was going on, though there were small hints like the three blue stripes across her back appearing the night I decided to add those to my fursona in order to break up his color blocking a little bit. During the traumatic breakup and immediate aftermath of it, she became ever more prominent in my dreams.

There was hope that what appeared on the surface - psychic communication of two loving souls sharing dreams over a great distance - was exactly what was happening but always the worry that this wasn't the case. It sounds like an absurd thing to believe, especially if you're a materialist. One of my friends told me she might be my guardian angel, but that was patently ridiculous - though it did raise the even more terrifying notion that she might not be merely a figment of my imagination, but a full on succubus.

So in one dream I managed to confront the issue head-on, demanding she tell me her human name. She froze, then had a realization that she was not real. When I went to sleep the next time, I found in my dream a teary goodbye letter - written on a Sonic takeout bag as the paper, using one of my cheap blue ball point pens, and in my own handwriting. All three of these further underscoring the entire point the tragic fact that all along, she was me. She ceased her existence as an illusion, and every time she's been in a dream of mine since then it's been in the in-story context of her being a fictional character that I made up.

This is also the first example in this art exercise (and the last in our shared roleplays) of Bella introducing a character she simply already had who makes a perfect mate for one of mine. You'll see the other three in the coming days. I guess you could also say that Minkshake herself is something borrowed, something blue, something old, and something new?
