Hydromancy is a talent that has been in Alayna's family for generations. Her maternal grandmother was one of the most powerful hydromancers in living memory, and both her mother and eldest brother are widely considered to be experts. Alayna is not. While the talent exists to some extent in all her family, she has the least ability with it of all of them. She is able to detect water and summon it forth from reservoirs that are sufficiently close to the surface, or cause it to coalesce out of the air in sufficiently humid areas. She can even direct bursts of water at people, with roughly the same force as a well-thrown water balloon. But she lacks the ability to fully bend it to her will, or to harness it for more than a few minutes at a time. Unknown to anyone but her favorite brother, and her best friend, she moved to Viridis in hopes of finding someone there who might help her hone her abilities.

I think Alayna could use a little cheer talk if she ever gets down about not being as good as her family with it. She could master how she uses it, or maybe she can use it in a way her family couldn't.

She is, and she enjoys it, too. She's not too bothered about not being as powerful a mage as her family, either, though she wouldn't turn down a pep talk, either. She's not really looking to do much more with it than have fun, and maybe help people when she can. And who knows? It's always possible that diligent study and the right training can boost her natural talents to greater heights, too. But as long as she has good friends, and can spend each night snuggled up with her girlfriend, she'll be a happy girl.
