In this universe, he is known as Bruno of the Black Shields, rather than "The Badly Cut Coat". His immense strength made him too deadly with a weapon, as he could cleave through armor in one fell swoop by accident. Instead he chose to carry not one, but two massive shields. With these walls of metal, he bashed aside projectiles, weapons, and foes all the same. When charging forward, he could place both shields in front of him, becoming a battering ram that could bust through even the toughest defenses. Just like the Big of the main world, Sir Bruno was near invincible, choosing only to cover his more vital areas, such as his chest and his Achilles tendons, opting to never wear shoes for any reason. It is unclear if the shields he carries are sacred or just well crafted, having never even been scratched. He also is older than Gawain, Lancelot, and Percival, having been a suitor to Caliburn before the wolf became the sword in the stone for Merlin's ploy to save Camelot. Those in the know would say Bruno is the one who introduced Caliburn to some of his... interests. Their relationship was special and unique, often joining each other whenever possible. It wasn't uncommon to see Bruno handle defending townsfolk while Caliburn led the assault against the enemy. |
