"Daddy...daddy, are you awake?" A small, timid voice whispers from beside the bed. Sunshine groans softly and opens his eyes when he recognizes his young son's voice. "I am now" He yawns. "What's wrong, little spark?" The older hedgehog asks, moving over to allow Sol to crawl into bed next to him.
"I...I had a bad dream and I got scared because I heard something creepy outside..." The little boy whimpers, wrapping his small arms around his father and nuzzling his face into Sunshine's fluffy chest. "It's okay, you were just dreaming" He assures his son. "You're safe."
"No, Daddy. I heard the noise after I woke up, it was all wobbly and scary!" Sol insists "It was like voom wub wub wub fwoom! It sounded like somethin' I might've heard before..." he tries to explain while waving his arms around to emphasize his words "I asked Pandora about it but she didn't hear it either."
"Don't worry about it, little man. You can sleep in our bed tonight" Starlight mumbles tiredly as Sunshine turns over so Sol was laying between them "We'll protect you and your sisters, okay?" "Okay, Papa...goodnight" The little boy yawns, sleep finally taking hold again now that he was safe and sound between his parents.
"Goodnight, sweetheart" Starlight smiles lovingly while Sunshine places a kiss on the child's forehead "Goodnight, little spark" He whispers before settling down back to sleep with his husband and child, completely unaware of the mismatched eyes that were staring in through the window from the dark night outside.
