Yes, this comic is based on a song, and yes I changed the lyrics ...and no, I don't know how to write music. :P
As for the captions, I didn't have space for interlocking balloons, so I color-coded the captions ...that was a good idea, on paper, until I put it ...on paper. :P
The idea is Gene is the last guest to leave Mimi's Christmas party ...but Mimi doesn't want Gene to go. ^^
Anyway, Mimi's captions are pink, Gene's are blue.
GENE (singing): "It's my time to go" MIMI (singing): "But it's so cold outside" GENE (singing): "I really must roam" MIMI (singing): "But it's so cold outside"
GENE (singing): "How bad can it be?" MIMI (singing): What's it matter if/You're warm inside with me"
GENE (singing): "Now where did I leave my sweater?" MIMI (singing): "You can't go out in this weather" GENE (singing): "But I really must go" MIMI (singing): "It's 40-below"
TOGETHER (singing): "Whoa, but it's cold outside!"
GENE (talking): "I've gotta go, Mimi. We'll play tomorrow"
MIMI (talking): "Not if you catch pneumonia!"
*
GENE (singing): "Don't be absurd" MIMI (singing): "You're under-furred" GENE (singing): "Do I need to shout" MIMI (singing): "Get over your holdout"
TOGETHER (singing): "Baby, it's cold outside"
*Originally, I had another lyric here, but had to cut it for space.
Presuming the Lord doesn't call me home between now and 2022, there will be one more Christmas/winter-themed comic from me before the end of December.
The inspiration for this derived (again) from the Dean Martin song (obv.), as well as from the featured pencil. I thought to feature the snowflake pencil with a previous upload, but as I looked at the pencil, this comic came to mind ...so yeah. ^^
A pencil from the Dollar Tree inspired a comic not worth a dime ...seems about right. ^^
Loving your spin on the song with Gene and Mimi. It also shows how each are situated in their "relationship". Gene just wants to go and be free and Mimi, well, she just wants Gene... with her... FOREVER!!! :D
They do say playing hard to get works sometimes and when it comes to Gene... he might as well wrote the book on playing hard to get lol.

I like the Pepe-Penelope relationship these two have; it's fun to play with, albeit, there are some who'd get bent out of shape if I ever took it too far (and yes, I've received criticism for it, albeit it's been supremely rare). :3
Absolutely! I like the Pepe-Penelope relationship these two have; it's fun to play with, albeit, th
It was suggested by someone from DA that I should have ended it with Mimi frustrated by Gene's reluctance, so when he decides it IS in fact too cold out, she'd put to the door and tell him to go!
Thx! It was suggested by someone from DA that I should have ended it with Mimi frustrated by Gene's
Love all color contrast, between gene singing and Mimi or between ornage for the inside and the blue for the outside. The background outside the window is great too XD
Great comic ^^ Love all color contrast, between gene singing and Mimi or between ornage for the ins
I mostly use Crayola and stubs from old PrismaColors. I do have some WWII-era Senecas (Prov. Pencil Co), as well as an ancient Eagle 756 (in fact, I used that one for Gene's shirt here).
