PAGE 33: From Humble Beginnings...

“You're right…” Gruffi said as he knelt down to hug the boy until he stopped crying, “Who am I to stand in your way?”

He had no rebuttal, no closing statement, nothing. He simply couldn’t argue with the boy’s logic. If he had said ‘no’ it would have made him look heartless. Besides… The boy WAS right. Cubbi HAD done some maturing these past months. Perhaps had been too busy lately or too suspicious of the Barbics to see the big picture here. In the end it wouldn’t really hurt anything to try and, if nothing else, it would give the boy something to do for a few weeks.

“You go get ‘em kid.”,Gruffi said quietly yet with a firmness. Cubbi looked up at him with a level of appreciation Gruffi had never really seen before. It was as if the boy was maturing before his eyes.

“Thank you, Gruffi.” the cub managed to squeak out.

The rest of the family began to protest but, they too all ultimately knew what was going to happen.
