Mama Raccoon wants a nice newer car. She wants to ride in style in a car that would impress the friends and relatives.
Daddy Raccoon is more frugal with the family finances. If a car can be picked up cheap and kept running for seeming forever, Daddy feels that's money saved.

This is a mixed media drawing. And it has been a long time since I did one that way.
I did the basic drawing with paper and pencil. Then I photographed it with a camera. Then I pulled up the image on my laptop and added the finer details and colouring digitally on a drawing tablet.

As for the gist of the joke, I got that from a Bazooka bubble gum comic 50 years ago...Bazooka brand bubble gum had those little comic strips packaged with the bubble gum.

I've added the 3rd picture which is altered a bit to look more like a 1919 Ford Model T.

There is a risk of the servicing costs balancing out though.

When it comes to that point, Daddy Raccoon will pick another old clunker.

Then it's off too a corner of their property and used as a rifle target or the kids paddock basher!

Looks like Caroline from Thomas The Tank Engine or Brum
Or maybe a loose resemblance to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Adding a wooden row boat for the tail end of the body, and fold out wings, it could probably pass of for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Also...It would be difficult for this car to pass off as a 1914 Overland Model 79 that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang started out as.

Thank you.

I can kind of relate to that being that back in my early childhood there was the time when my dad would buy only old cars for cheap.

I never heard that joke before, but I thought it was kind of funny.

And I remember those Bazooka bubble gum comic strips.  One that came to my mind was Joe Bazooka (the product mascot) watching his friend play an instrument while a fart came out of his butt.  Joe asked "What was that?", and his friend said "B flat."

That one was funny, LOL.

I remember two others from 50 years ago:

#1. Bazooka Joe was riding his bicycle in a hurry. He ran a red traffic light. He barely beat a train over a crossing. And he sped through a crowd of pedestrians.
A police officer stopped Joe and said to him, "I've noticed you've been riding that bike pretty recklessly. What's the big hurry anyway?"
Bazooka Joe replied, "The brakes gave out on my bicycle, and I want to hurry home before I get into an accident".

#2. A man arrives at an airport.
Upon his arrival, he asks a receptionist, "Ma'am, can you call me a cab?"
The receptionist replies, "Sure thing, Mister. You're a cab".
