The exit for Highway 285 at Cline's Corners is a mile ahead as the radio plays I Have Waited, sung by a then well known kangaroo, Joey Brooks. Skip also needs to make a stop to get gas for the car. Skip and Sophia do meet one of their high school alumni, Danny Otter, who is also getting gas at the gas station for his Studebaker Goldenhawk.
It's going to be well after one o'clock am by the time Skip drops Sophia off at her parents' house, and by the time Skip gets back to his parents' house...Make that more like between 1:30 and 2:00.
Of course there will be that argument, "He look. I'm 18, and not a cub". That will surly be followed by, "As long as you are living under my roof, it's my rules". By the way, that 1957 Mercury is Daddy's car...That car does not belong to Skip.
