Sunshine sighs softly as he finishes wrapping bandages around the white Chao’s torso to cover the wounds on it’s back and carefully tucking in the creature’s single remaining blue wing against it’s body, the other wing was damaged beyond repair by the poacher’s trap and had to be removed before the tissue died and caused any further harm to the Chao. The hedgehog gently pets his sleeping companion on the head before carefully laying it down in a small cardboard box filled with pillows and a blanket, leaving a couple pieces of fruit in the box in case his little friend was feeling well enough to eat when it woke up.
“Don’t worry, little one. You’re safe now, nobody will hurt you again…I promise” Sunshine says softly.
He would have to remember to warn the other Chao to be weary of traps or strangers hanging around the garden so they don’t end up trapped while he wasn’t around to help them. The thought of someone intentionally harming such innocent, gentle creatures made the hedgehog’s blood boil with rage, whoever did this would pay for their heartless actions.
Sunshine goes to sit on the couch in his living room with the Chao resting on his lap. The hedgehog gently rubs the Chao’s head with one hand while carefully checking the bandages to see if they needed to be changed with his other hand.
“You’re okay, you’re safe here” He repeats softly, wanting to keep the little creature calm while also gaining their trust so they would be comfortable around him while they were in his care. Sunshine smiles a bit when the little blue ball above his companion’s head turns into a heart.
“You’re such a sweet little thing, aren’t you?” He coos at it quietly, frowning when the small creature starts shivering. The hedgehog gently sets the Chao back in the box among the blankets.
“Wait right here, I have something I think might help keep you warm…if it fits”
