Sunshine steps into a small clearing in the woods behind his house, a bag of various fruits and toys slung over his shoulder.
“I’m back, everyone” He calls out softly as he sits down in the grass, earning dozens of squeaks and chirps in return as a small group of Chao rush over to him, some flying and others running as they greet the hedgehog excitedly “Okay, okay, settle down. I’m happy to see you all too”
Sunshine laughs, petting each Chao on the head and smiling when a heart appears over their heads “I brought more toys, try not to lose or break any of these this time” He says while unpacking the bag of goodies for his tiny friends, handing each one a piece of fruit and putting the toys in a small toy box he had placed in a safe spot among the roots of a large tree in the center of the clearing during one of his previous visits to the garden. He sits down under the tree and takes his art supplies out of the bag so he can sketch an image of a Dark Chao swimming in the small pond near the edge of the garden.
“CHAOOO!”
Sunshine jumps and drops his sketchbook and pencil when he’s startled by the distressed shriek of a young Chao coming from the forest just outside of the garden. The hedgehog gets up and bolts toward the sound, leaving his belongings behind under the tree that stood in the middle of the garden. He immediately spots a young Neutral Chao caught by it’s wings in a poachers trap that hung from a tree branch.
“It’s okay, little one. I’ve got you, hold still for me so I can get you out of that awful thing…” He says softly as he pries open the jaws of the trap with one hand, catching the Chao in his other hand as it’s released from the trap. Sunshine slips off his jacket and bundles up the small creature to protect it’s wounded wings and to stop the bleeding caused by it’s injuries, he quickly rushes the now unconscious Chao back to his house, leaving his belongings forgotten in the garden.
